Xtauh, secretary and treasurer of the stockyards and four other property owners in a petition for a levee filed in Circuit Court late Thursday. The levee would run along the west bank of White Elver, from the mouth of Big , Eagle Creek to a point opposite the mouth or Pleasant Run. Spreading of the cost over the territory benefited is asked by the petitioners, who. besides Mr. :tauh, are D. L. Speieker, E. H. Ferguson, William A. Ferguson and A. Ferguson. WOMAN AWAKENED BY BFBGLAB. Mrs. Margaret Allen, 116 North Senate avenue, was awakened at 3:30 a. m. today by a man touching her face. Warned to “keep quiet,” she screamed and the prowler escaped through the open window of the room. The police failed to find the prowler. The nan had removed a screen from the w*udow and crawled through into the room. TWO TAKEN IN RAID. Sergt Clifford R chter raided a house at 3547 Massachusetts avenue early today and arrested Lawrence Brickens, 24, and Lizzie Stavins, 23, oa statutory charges.

GRAND JURY TO SIFT CHARGE Former Patrolman Bound Over Under Bond. James George, 310 North West street, arrested by Patrolmen Thompson and Rominger on a charge of contributes to the delinquency of a 14-year-old girl, and another statutory charge, waived hearing on the latter charge and was bound over to the grand Jury, under SI,OOO tond by Judge Walter Pritchard in city court yesterday. Jealousy Alleged in Attempt at Suicide Mrs. Mayme KirkotT, 40, 333 North Liberty street, drank carbolic acid last night at her home in an attempt to commit suicide, the police were told. Mrs. Kirkotf was *: ken to the city hospital and physicians say she probably will recover. The police say the woman was Jealous, of her husband.
