Foolish Man Defies Court; Goes to Jail Special to The Tlmea COLUMBUS, Ind., June 24—D. W. Herandon was committed to the county Jail on a charge of contempt of court when he defied Judge John W. Donaker and officers in court here yesterday. Herandon was brought into court when he failed to pay money for the support of his 7-year-cdd son to his divorced Wife. Herandon claimed since his wife remarried he coultf not be compelled to support the child. He boasted of his rights as a free-bom 'American citizen and defied the court to make him pay. Woman Sues Husband, Asking SSO Alimony Special to The Times. COLUMBUS. Ind.. June 24.—Mrs. Daisy O. Crump has filed suit for limited divorce from John W. Crump In Circuit Court here. In the suit Mrs. Crump demands SSO per week support and the use of the Crump country home. The couple were married In 1895 and separated June 21, 1921. according to the complaint. Mrs. Crump alleges that on the day of the separation her husband threw her to the cement floor and would have killed her had not a son Interfered. The Clumps are a prominent family here. A remarkable fact about the case is that Mrs. Leffingwell, who is the divorced wife of John C. Miller, adopted the boy once before and bad his name changed to Miller. Now the child's name has been changed to Lefflngwell. His name originally was Brown.

Five hundred peasants dug a moat around their village, posted behind armed guards to keep away strangers, barricaded themselves In their bath-houses and burned themselves to death. When all were dead • the fifty guards returned to the village and shot one another. Several similar tragedies of smaller dimensions have occurred. Indianapolis with grand larceny for the theft of a “dog chain” from the St Paul stone quarry, was dismissed in the Shelby Circuit Court on the motion of Prosecuting Attorney Elmer Bassett Harwood was arrested in Detroit, Mich., early this spring and brought here .or arraignment. His trial was set for bearing June 30. The motion for dismissal was made when HarwooiF agreed to return the dog chain, which had been iu his truck at Indianapolis for more than six months. He also agreed to reimburse the court for its action in the ease and for his return to this -caunty from Detroit.
