H. C. ROOT POST FAVORS MEMORIAL Members, by Resolution, Indorse Plans. The Howard C. Root Post No. 84. American Lepton, has gone on record In favor of the early completition of the World War Memorial In honor of Indiana's sons an daughters who gave their lives in the late war. The post has adopted the following resolution: “Whereas, the State of Indiana by Its General Assembly, has declared Its Intention to erect In the city of Indianapolis a World War Memorial: and “Whereas, full authority to join in the erection of such Memorial has been granted to Marlon County and,the city of Indianapolis; and “Whereas, it is our opinion that the construction of a joint World War Memorial would be of a most appropriate expression by the people of our State, county and city of their complete understanding of and gratitude for the sacrifice of our dead comrades and a subJtantial provision for carrying on the cause for which they died : and "Whereas, it is our opinion that a Memorial appropriate to the cause to which is to be dedicated can be better provided Jointly than by the State alone, having regard to all considerations of economy, centralization and the personnl inconvenience of a few of our citizens: now “Be it resolved, that we do emphatically and yithout reservation indorse and commend the proposed Joint World War Memorial and the program for construction thereof so far made.”
LAWYERS MEET IN CITY JULY 13 ■ Members of Bar Association to Discuss Constitutional Amendments. Members of the Indiana State Bar-As-sociation will discuss the proposed con-stitutional-amendments at their twentyfifth annual meeting at the Indianapolis Country Club July 13 and It. Elmer E. Stevenson, president of the association, will open the meeting on the afternoon or July 13 with a, talk on “Our Profession.” He will be followed by Albert J. Beveridge and by Lewis A. Coleman. The latter will speak on “Stock of Corporations of No Par Value.” The annual dinner will be held in the evening of July 13 when C. Roltaire Eggleston, Kin Hubbard and William Herschell will be the speakers. * The annual election will be held on the afternoon of the following day. Tne present oficers are Mr. Stevenson, president; Charles M. McCabe of Crawfordsville. vice president; George H. Batchelor of Indianapolis, secretary, and Ellas D. Salsbury, Indianapolis, treasurer. June 22.—Miss Opal Brisben. 18, daughter of William Brlsben, of Grammer, is In a critical condition from shock suffered when she saw the explosion of a gasoline tank in the garage of Burnex and Cinrson at Grammer yesterday. Ernest Burns, one of the owners of the garage, and Brewster Lewellen. of Scipio. were burned and cut by the explosion.

NEGRO POSSIBLY HIGH STEPPER Cop Fires at Fleeing Feet, Bullet Hits Window. Patrolman Love may have fired at the fee* of an escaping negro early yesterday, but today H. E. Dunn, 1807 Columbia avenue, complained that Lore’s bullets broke a big window in front of his home and lodged In the wall of his front room. Love arrested a negro who said his came was James Brown, Hudson House, and while the officer was writng an arrest Blip charging Brown with carrying concealed weapons and vagrancy and before the patrol wagon arrived the negro left the policeman standing at the patrol box. As the negro ran Love fired one shot In the air. That added speed to the negro and Love fired two shots at the speeding feet, he says, but hit the window of Dunn’s home. Lieutenant Cox later arrested a negro answering the description of the one who escaped from Love, but the patrolman was unable to identify him. * Gas Masks Used to Repair Ice Plant Special to the Times. NOBLESVILLE, Ind. June 22.—As the result of an ammonia pipe breaking in the artificial ice plant at Sheridan the employes had a touch of real gas warfare. About one thousand gallons of ammonia were lost and the employes had to don gas masks to make repairs. Boy Admits Crimes Special to The Times. NOBLESVILLE. Ind., June 22—Wilbur Law, 18. entered a plea of guilty to the charge of forgery in Circuit Court yesterday afternoon and was fined JSO and sent to the State Farm for four months. Although it was the first time the boy had ever been arrested he confessed to having committed offenses of a similar nature on other occasions.
