TINE BLUFF, Ark., June IT.—Miss Mildred McLeod. 17, of Risbn, Arktwenty miles southwest of here. Is in good health and spirits today despite an experience which caused her to be mourned as dead for six hours. While attending a Sunday school picnic on Saline Hirer, Miss McLeod and others went wading. She stepped off a ledge into water sixteen feet deep. Her companions wete unable to roach her and she sank three times and then remained under water. Older members of the party, attracted by screams, rushed to the spot with fishing poles and a minnow net. After Miss McLeod had been under water several minutes, she was brought up with the minnow net, apparently lifeless. While Mrs. William H. Buster, one of the picnickers, tried to resuscitate her, others went for a physician. After six hours’ work the doctor was able to restore her to consciousness. Meanwhile she had been mourned as dead in Rison. Today she is apparently none the worse for the experience. 14 Nails Are Found in Cow’s Stomach KIRKSYILLE, Mo., Jnne 17.—A piece of wire and fourteen nails, which a valuable Jersey cow belonging to F. M. Harrington had eaten, caused her death. The wire worked into her heart and stopped the functioning of that organ. The cow had been losing flesh for several months without apparent cause, as she had been eating her rations regularly, and consumed more food than the other cows of the place. She also had been tested for tuberculosis, but no trace of the disease could be found. Au autopsy was held and the fourteen nails were found in her stomach and the piece of wire in her heart. Recently Courtland Mills lost a valuable cow, which also had eaten a piece of wire. Red River of North History in Pageant FARGO, N.
