VICEROY OPENS PARLIAMENT OF NORTH IRELAND Lord Fitz Alan Makes First Visit to Belfast in New Office. NEW CABINET NAMED
BELFAST, Tune 7.—With much pomp and la the presence of a brilliant assemblage, the new Northern Ireland (Ulster) Parliament was opened today by Lord Fits Alan, British viceroy of Ireland. This was the first visit Lord-Flti Alan had made to Belfast since his appointment to the viceroyalty. He represented King George. Formal announcement that King George will come to Ireland and formally open <the Northern Ireland Parliament on June 22 was made by Premier Sir James Craig. The members of the new Parliament took oath upon a table that was last used in the old Irish Parliament in 1799. PREMIER NAMES CABINET MEMBERS. Premier Sir James Craig of Ulster announced his cabinet as follows: Home secretary, Sir Dawson Btleg, Financial minister, H. M. Pollock. Minister of education, the Mar<ials J f Londonderry. Minister of labor, J. M. Andrew*. Minister of agriculture, E. E. Archdale. The Ulster Parliament was created under the new home rule (partition) act, which established Irish leglslatura, one for southern Ireland at Dublin; the other northern Ircjgnd at Belfast The Unionists, anti-Sinn Felners, control the northern Ireland Parliament. 100 REBELS CAUGHT IN BRITISH DRIVE CORK, June 7.—One hundred Sinn Felners were captured today in a great military movement in which all classes of equipment, Including airplanes, wer> used. Three Sinn Felners were killed and twelve wounded. Military casualties were light The military movement was one of the first attempted since the government announced its new policy of Increasing military pressure in south Ireland. Large bodies of troops had been brought Into Cork County to participate In the maneuvers which covered a wide stretch of country. The center of the engagement wa* the Mills street area, scene of numerous ambushes. Airplanes did scout duty, swooping close to earth when bands of rebels were found and flying back over their own lines with information of the fleeing rebels. The Sinn Felners fought back at first, firing from brush clumps and depressions in the country. As the constricting line* became tighter, they came out from cover to surrender. Many were dismissed after a hurried examination. Those taken prisoners were hurried back to tho camps in Cork where more ex--2 SINN FEINERS AND CONSTABLE EXECUTED DUBLIN, June 7.—Three men, two es them republicans and the other a constable, were executed here today by the British authorities. The Sinn Felners were Edward Foley and Patrick Meher, who had boen guilty of the murder of Constable Wallace by a British courtmartial. Constable Mitchell was hanged for the murder of Magistrate Dixon. All three men met death In the Jhil yard of Motvnt Joy Prison. It has been reported that a Sinn Fein plot had been hatched against the Ufa of Executioner Ellis and a special bodyguard was provided for him. y ■* Magistrate Dixon was shot to death during an outbreak of disorders at Dunlavin. The Sinn Felners were alleged to have participated In an ambush attack upon a police detachment near Knocklarg. Freeh disorders were reported from various parts of the country. A civilian was shot to death near Dungarvaran. His body was found lying by the roadside. The courthouse at ClonakHty was burned to the bround. A reprisal raid was made at Drlmaleague and two houses were destroyed.
Carpenters Threaten Terre Haute Strike Special to The Timea TERRE HAUTE, Ind., Juno 7.——Carpenters of the local union are again threatening to strike, it became known Tuesday when the contractors hinted that they were going to run their bualnes* on the open shop plan. An arbitration board, representing both factions, cannot agree on a wage scale. In their agreement at the beginning a fifth man was to be selected If the four could not agree. They cannot now agree on the fifth man. Contractors atate that If the board doe* not make a final decision at thoir next meeting on Thursday they will consider the open shop plan. Congregation Gives SIO,OOO for Church Special to Ths Time*. COLUMBUS, Ind., June 7.— Ten thousand dollars for the Werta Memorial fund, which will be used to build a new $40,000 United Brethren Church here In memory of Samuel Werta one of the fonadars of the local church and for forty years principal of Columbus High School, was raised at special services held by the church Sunday. It was announced that work would begin on the new church May 1, 1022. A site for the church was purchased by the congregation during the war but tbe erection of the building was delayed because of the war.

GREEXSBURG —Mrs. Margaret Shaner Snapp, 63, wife of Edwin Snapp, and lifelong resident of this county, Is dead at her home west of this city. Death was due to a complication of disease*. The surviving relatives are her mother, Mrs. Hannah Shaner, a brother, George Shaner of indianapollc, three Mrs. Cornelius Collins of Mrs. Bine Collins of Indianapolis, and Mrs. Smiley Fowler of this city, and one son Russel at home Mrs. Eliza H. Lambert, 67, is dead at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Oscar Miller following three years illness. Mrs. Lamber had lived in this city the greater part of her life, and was well known throughout this section of the State. The surviving relatives are Mrs. Miller, and two other daughters, Miss Sue Lambert of thi9 city, and Mrs. Edward M. White of Indianapolis, six grandchildren) and one great-grandchild A. A. Armstrong, 69, is dead at his home near Letts after a seventeen years’ lUjmgs. Death was due to a complication of diseases. He is survived by a widow, five sons and four daughters. GAS CTTY-—Arthur Norton, wealthy farmer living east of this city, is deal. He succumbed suddenly while talking to E. E. Frledltno, Mill Township trustee. He apparently had been in good health. Coroner Phil Lucas pronounced death due to heart failure.
