CARP’S METHOD FOR TRAININGf HAS FEATURES (Conltnned From Page Six.) now and anr business is to tret ready, not to run a circus.” No one this side of the water who has not seen Carpentler In any of his Important fights can Judge his ability from , what he showed in the Levinsky bout. In that fl'fcbt he was not very impressive In that he fought wide open. He is reported to have explained that he did this to lure Levinsky into range for his best punches At anv rate he showed little or nothing by which he may be Judged Along the same line those who took Dempsey's showing against Brennan to mean that the champion is going back or that he has been overrated are shooting wide of the mark. Neither of these fights must be taken seriously in drawing comparisons between Dempsey and Carpentler. , . _ Within a few days I hope to visit Carpenter's camp. I intend to wait until he starts something, though I am eager to see him in ring costume. They tell me he looked a little weary and chalky when he landed from La Savoie, but that he is weighing 175. I think he will need the weight he can carry into the ring against Dempsey without hurting his speed, and I think he will train to this end. His training methods, therefore, will differ in some respects from those of Dempsey, who will take off a few pounds. . . The champion is enjoying his stay down here. He is keeping his cheerful frame of mind and still working In "light spirits.” He took the road today, as usual. (Copyright, 1021, by International News Service.) ATOMS C. A.
