GERMANS BEGIN TO PLAY ON ‘IF’ Indicate Upper Silesia May Be Used in Dodging New Obligations. BERLIN. May 13.—Orman officials declared today that there must be a “satisfactory settlement" of the GermnnPolish territorial, dispute in Upper Silesia, if the German nation is to meet in full her indemnity obligations. “Germany expects fair treatment from the entente upon the Upper Silesian question,” said Chancellor Wirth, in addressing the Upper chamber of tne Reichstag. “Only if this mattet is handled in a fair way can Germany fulfil the reparation demands and Europe be saved. Germany’s unconditional acceptance of tie allied ultimatum has already relieved Europe.” , According to reports received hete. General Leronde, the FrenA commander in Upper Silesia, has officially denied the news sent out from Warsaw by wireless that an armistice has been negotiated between the allied troops and the Polish insurgents and a demarcation line established. The Breslau correspondent of the Achtuhr Abenblatt telegraphs that the Germans in Upper Silesia have declared a general strike in protest against the Polish uprising. It is reported from the same source that Italy is claiming 15,000.000 lire damages from Poland for the killing and wounding of Italian soldiers by the Poles.
New Keystone Club Holds Open House ‘Just Like Old Days’ In a blaze of glory and music the New Keystone Club held its first open house In the clnbrooms on the second floor of 3.16 Indiana avenue last night. A banjo, trap drums and a piano/" accompanied singers who warbled the “blue" and other Jazxy songs. Both men and women were present and it was a gay night. “The opening of the Keystone Club was Just like the cabarets of the old days,” declared a police officer. “The club has four rooms furnished with tables, chairs and a piano.” Rufe Page, Fawn Wilson and John Overton, three negro backers of the late News-Jewett “good government” administration. are -Bald to be members of the New Keystone Club. The police so far have not learned what the object of the club Is, but presume it is an organization for the social and civic betterment of the people of that part of the city. No athletic equipment has been installed in the club gymnasium, the police say. Democratic Club to Ratify Nominations of the Indiana Democratic Club a ratification meeting in the clubrooms on Vermont street tomorrow night to celebrate the recent primary election. The city candidates will be on the program and other leading Democrats also will speak. “The splendid ticket nominated by the Democrats of Indianapolis at the recent primaries insures a Democratic victory the fall.” says the letter of invitation being sent out by Frank P. Baker, president of tile club. BCILD ArTO SHOW BUILDING. COLUMBUS, Ind.. May 13.—Work will begin soon on anew automobile building at the county fair grounds here. The building is to be erected by the automobile dealers of the city and will be the largest building at the fair grounds. An automobile show will be held in the new pavilion during the fair this summer.
