The police are searching f<r John McGuire, a roomer at the Thompson home, who Patterson alleges hit him with a hatchet. Patterson's wound Is not serious. Patterson said he returned from Sedalla. Mo., last night with his wife and 17-months-old son. They went to the home of Mrs. Thompson, his wife's toother. Tatterson said he had a quarrel with McGuire and that the latter struck at him fire times with & hatchet and the fifth time hit him on the head. The wounded man wag the only person at the house when the police arrived. WHOLESALERS IN TOUR THURSDAY Schedule for ‘Courtesy Trip’ Is Announced. BEN-HUR ORDER TO MEET HERE Supreme Tribe Sessions to Be Held May 11-12. The annual State convention of the ! Supreme Tribe of Ben-Hur will be held | In Indianapolis May 11 and 12, it was announced today. Arrangements for the reception and entertainment of the hun- | dreds of delegate* who are expected to attend the convention are being made jiow under the direction of the board of of Arrius Court, the Indianapolis lodge, of which Charles A. Suffrln Is president. Headquarters will be established at the Denison Hotel during the convention. Delegates from Indiana, and surrounding States are to attend, and It is probable that many delegates from Mexico will be In attendance. The convention was held last year in Ft. Wayne when the Indianapolis lodge captured first prize In the competitive 1 fancy drill. The drill will be a feature i of this year's meeting, but the Indian- j apolis team will not enter. SAYS HUNS SEEK HELP OF AMERICA Frenchman Writes of Reparations Issue. PARIS. April B.—Germany has begun anew attempt to obtain American intervention in the reparations issue, according to Pertlnax, recognized as the best informed French commentator on foreign hpfairs. Herr Bergmnnn. chief German negotiator on the subject of reparations, according to Pertinax, is trying to confer with Colonel Boyden, U. S. A., who recently withdrew from the reparations commission on orders from Washington, but who is keeping in touch with the activities of that body. Colonel Boyden has been in the Balkans for the last ten days and his assistants here said they did not know whether Pertinax's story has any foundation in fact. Bergmann has been in Berlin mire than a week and his assistants here declared themselves ignorant of any new German proposals. Pertinax declares Franc* is willing to listen to America and England is glad to conclude an amicable accord, but that she will not yield on the reparations question. ‘‘W e are resolved," he adds, “to proceed with the military occupation of tho Ruhr district if Germany refuses to pay. Our leaders are now making economic end military preparation* which will assure the enterprise. New Boggstown Bank Applies^for Charter Special to The Times. SHELBYVILLE, Ind., April B.—Application has been filed with the Secretary of State for the granting of a charter to the Sugar Creek State Bnnk at Boggstown, which was organized yesterday by a number of prominent farmers and citizens of Sugar Creek Township.
