STATE SCHOOL JOBS WILL RUN INTO HUNDREDS More Places and More Pay Result of Action of 1921 Legislature. INSPECTORS GET BOOST Job hunters will not suffer from lack of opportunities In the educational department of the State as a result of the action of the 1921 Legislature. Indications are that the number of new Jobs in this department will run into the hundreds. First, there will be a State attendance officer at a salary of $3,000 a year, lie will have directly under him an attendance officer in every county and in nearly every city 'of the State with a population of 2,00) or more. The new law provides that officers shall be appointed in all of these units and that each shall be paid not less than $3 nor more than $5 a day. In some of these units officers already are employed, but they are paid only $2 a day and consequently do little work. There are ninety-two counties and it is estimated there are ninety-sis cities which will come under provisions of the law. INSPECTORS WILL RECEIVE SHAKE. The high school inspection department also is to be reorganized with anew Job and a salary Increase thrown in. The chief inspector will receive $3,000 a year instead of $2,500 and a deputy to be appointed will receive $2,500. The chief inspector aud the deputy are to have charge of inspection of all public schools, both high schools and grade schools. Then there is a vocational rehabilition program. This calls for the appointment of a director at a salary of at least $3,000 a year. The State has appropriated SII,OOO and the Government an equal amount for the operation of this department. *’■ ‘ TEACHERS’ PENSIONS NOT WORKED OCT. All of the plans for the administration of the teachers’ pension law have not been worked out, but it certainly will mean more employes. The law provides the Governor shall appoint a board for its administration. None of these laws carries an emergency clause and for his reason will not be effective until promulgated by the Governor. The department of education has Just completed the work of distributing a total of $250,000 to the poor schools of the State. Another distribution of $200,000 will be made early next July. The July distribution will be made possible by a special act of phe Legislature. Urge More Respect for American Flag BOSTON. March 25.—Disrespect of the American flag will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law by members of Ihe Daughters of the American Revolution, it was announced during the State conference of that organization. A resolution was adopted urging Congress to pass a law prohibiting the draping of flags for decoration purposes when bunting should be used. Members pledged themselves to report to the State committee any acts of irreverence to the flag that might come under their notice.
