KEEPING HOUSE WITH THE HOOPERS
(The Hoopers, an average American family of five, living In a suburban town, on a limited Income, will tell the readers of the Dally Times how the many present-day problems of the home are solved by working on the budget that Mrs. Hooper has evolved and found practical. FRIDAY. “The children are taking care of their own bit of charity. Henry, in connection with the relief for the starving millions in China, about which they thought they ought to do something,” said Mrs. Hooper, as she poured the coffee, “so we will manage to extract that 50 cents a week from the 'advancement' fund in our budget so that Helen ”a'a begin tomorrow and take a few dancing ,essons." “I suppose I’ll have to take her to parties as soon as she learns to dance,” said Roger, with big brotherly ungra.ciousness. She had an opportunity when one of the women referred to her for information on the subject as to what a child of 5 should be given to eat, that would carry out the plan of menus that they were discussing last Friday. “There need be very little disturbance of the regular family meai." said Airs. Hooper, “to provide for a youu.g child properly. It should not be permitted to eat everything that is placed on the table for older persons. A. Worthington appointed by President Charles F. Coffin to arrange for the details of the entertainment of the Mexican business men, who will visit Indianapolis on April 5. Merle Sidener. a board mem"fcer, proposed that paid advertising space be bought each week in the Indianapolis newspapers to not only give facts of interest about the city, but to reflect the activities of the Chamber of Commerce. This dea whs indorsed by other members of the board and it is expeete,] that the chamber will take up a display advertising campaign in the near future. Crisis in Industry Reported in Italy MILAN. March 18.—A crisis has been reached in the industrial situation In northern Italy and the number of idle men wa estimated today at 120.000. Three hundred thousand workmen are on balf time. The situation in the cotton, wool and silk textile trades is especially serious. The hours of the iron and rubber works hare been cut 50 per cent. Nearly all the shoe factories have been closed and the automobile industry is completeiy stagnated.
