BRINGS REPORT FROM ARMENIA Near East Worker Addresses Local Audience. Mi# Jean Butter. Omaha. Neb, who returned from the Near East to arouse Interest In the thousands of starving in Armenia, electrified an andienee at the Y. M. C. A. Sunday afternoon with an appeal that Indiana continue its support of Armenian orphans. Miss Butter addressed a conference of Near East Relief workers, she will work in Indiana two weeks to help the State reach its goal of 7,000 Ar.nviia.-i orphans. The Armenians’ only hope is the United States, she declared. “There is no government, no other ration to give them two meals a day, one meal a day or even a hit of food except this Nation.” Miss Butter declared that there is no way of describing the outrageous treatment of Armenian girls. Near East Belief has eleven rescue homes for girls rescued from Turkish harems, she said. Franklin Men Meet Women; Miss Jewelry Two men, who live in Franklin, met two young women, who are believed to live In Indianapolis, Thursday night at the traction station here. The men told the police that the women accompanied them to Franklin and that on the nest day the women returned to Indianapolis. The police are searching for the women, who are alleged to have taken a gold necklace valued at S7O, a watch, a sapphire ring and a gold ring from the home of Travis Rawlings, KOI West Adams street, Franklin, and a gold ring from Marion Brown, 96 West Adams street, Franklin. The men told the Indianapolis police they only knew the first names of the women. Police Believe Bank Robber Is in Toils ST. PACE, Minn, Feb. 21.-Police here today believed Peter Beltz of Bed Wing may have been responsible for several ‘‘lone bandit” escapades in this section during the last few months. Beltz, arrested at Red Wing Saturday, where he confessed having robbed the Stockholm State Bank at Stockholm, Wis, was In the Washington county jail to a charge of robbing the State bank at Afton, Minn, Jan. 24. Cashier Harry A. Swanson believes Beltz is the man who locked him and a stenographer in a bank vault and escaped with $.7 200. The Washington county sheriff took Beltz from the Red Wing jail on a warrant. Letter Carriers of Indiana Will Meet City letter carriers of Indiana will hold their annual convention at the Odd Fellow building tomorrow. The business session will be followed by a dance at the Athenaeum In the evening. Among the speakers will be Mayor Charles W. Jewett, Ed J. George J. Dudley, 71, ex-Councilman, Dies George J. Dudley, 71, former councilman at large and market master for the south side market under the administration of Thomas Taggart, and at one time a candidate for mayor on the Democratic ticket, died Sunday at St. Vincent’s Hospital following a two weeks' illness. Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning at S:3t> o'clock from the home of a daughter, Mrs. William Lackey, 810 South Noble street, and at 9 o'clock from Heart Church, with interment in St. Joseph Cemetery. Mr. Dudley came to Indianapolis In 1889 and for some time operated a clothing store on Fountain Square. Surviving are three sons and five daughters, as follows: George J. Dudley Jr., William Dudley, Harry Dudley. Mrs. Peter Thomas, Mrs. Fred Shutt, Mrs. William Luckey, Mrs. Oral Miller and Miss Florence Dudley, all of Indianapolis. Mother of Policeman Is Dead at Hospital Mrs. Jameg E. Franklin, 67, mother of former Captain of Police Harry M 1 Franklin, died at the Deaconess Hospital Sunday night. Mrs. Franklin fell at Washington and Illinois streets a week ago and broke her hip, the injury resulting in her death. Mrs. Franklin was the daughter of William Bnckshott, who came to Indianapolis la the early forties. She was born in this city in 1853, She had been prominent as a worker in the Roberts Park Methodist Church and also in the Hall Place Methodist Chureh. Three sons, Ed J. of Muskogee, Okla., and Paul B. and Harry M. of Indianapolis: four daughters, Mrs. William E. Kahier and Mrs. Benjamin Soltau of Indianapolis; Mrs. William G. Shick, Indej pendenee, Kan., and Mrs. Lambert Abel, : Prenehtown, X. J.; a brother, George Buckshott, Indianapolis, and a sister, Mrs. Charles M. Cole, New Cambria, Mo., survive.
