MISS GARDINER GIVES MASH NOTES To Her Mother, Who Is Always Her Companion

All the mash notes which Miss Arline Gardiner, the bizarre figure of "Take It From Me,” which comes to the Murat Monday for a weeks’ engagement, receives are turned over to the mother of the actress. The mother of the actress has never been away from her daughter for a single day since Miss Gardiner went on the stage. "I got into the show business,” said Arline Gardiner recently, ‘‘when I was 3 years old. My sister and brother and I were billed as the ‘Three Baby Wonders.’ “My earliest recollections are of tense •nd exciting controversies. I was so young when I started in vaudeville that mother didn’t have to pay railroad fare for me. When I got to be 7 years old mother had contracted the habit of not paying any fare for me, and like any cne else who becomes the victim of habit, she didn’t want to pay my fare. So they need to hide me in big baskets and put me down in a corner out of sight or view of the conductor, and it used to be a merry argument. “The Gerry Society was active in the East twenty years ago, more so than now, and after mother had persuaded the conductor that 1 was less than 6 years old, she frequently had to begin on a new tack when we arrived in town, and convince the Gerry agents that I was more than 14. This dual controversy so complicated my age statistics that I went on for a long time not knowing how old I really was. “We hare a nice home in Philadelphia, but we don’t see It very often. Still, I wonder that so many girls with good homes are so eager to get into the show busines. I would rather they remain st home and get married and have babies around them. Lots of girls consult me about entering the show business and 1 advise every last one of them to stay out of it, and I don’t think one of them ever took my advice.” -I- -I- -I6TILL ON VIEW. “Florodora” will close its engagement at the Murat with a Saturday afternoon and night performance. Not to be missed by those who enjoy the best. Franker Wood and Bunee Wyde in
