SAYS SINGLE FILE RULE SOLVES IT Col. Perry Backs Up Engineers on Circle Plan. The proposed plan of the Indianapolis chapter, American Association of Engineers urging the city council and board o fsafety to regulate traffic about the Monument Circle today was Indorsed by CoL Oran Perry, superintendent of the soldiers’ and sailors' monument. In commenting on the proposal Colonel Perry emphasized the necessity of motor vehicles traveling in single file. “The tracking of automobiles at the intersection of Meridian and Market streets with Monument circle forms a natural triangular safety zone that would be. If outlined with white paint by the street commissioner, a guide for drivers and a haven for pedestrians.” said Colonel Perry. "If the board of safety would laaue an order forbidding an automobile from passing another while In transit about the circle, compelling them to travel in single file, racing would be eliminated, tne street made safer, and the danger of acldents would bo lessened. “This action would cause no hardship to motor vehicle drivers. They now have to travel single file when entering the Circle from Washington. Pennsy.vanla. Ohio and Illinois streets, and there Is no reason for allowing them to break loose and make a speedway of the Clcle while they are on it.” Making: Plans for Roosevelt Memorial Plans for a State wide observance of the third anniversary of the de-itb of Theodore Roosevelt are being made by the Indiana branch of the Rooaevelt Memorial Association.
