George West and George Bryner, Shasta County miners, declare they have found It and pioneer miners are lnoplned to give credence to their story. The four miners who declare they discovered the long-lost mine last June and have since been working It, have come out of .Ihe mountain fastness of the Squaw Creek district for the winter. They declafcfe they located the mine twenty-two mile* up Squaw Creek from Copper City. The well-established story is that in 1853 some miners found a rich claim far up "Squaw Creek. All but one of them wa* massacred by the India**. T£e survivor came down to Copper CIS *nd told the story of the riches that wept abandoned, but he was soon afterward drowned in Pitt River. years and years efforts havo been made by prospectors to find the lost mire. It Remained for the four miners to find th*-'claim last June. It Is in an almost Inaccessible region and It was only accideftally that they stumbled on it. 'Hvey found a shaft, fourteen feet and olcf; rusty tools indicating that the claim had been abandoned In haste. Cleaning ouOhe shaft they found a ledge of rich one-whlch proved to be gold quarts.
