WOMEN PROPOSE TO AWAIT RESULTS Obtain Provisional Promise of Market on Shelby Street. After the board of works had resurrected from the files of the city civil engineer’s office a picture of the proposed barns on the proposed municipal yard at Kentucky avenue and Drover street, to which it is proposed to move the 100 street cleaning mules now quartered in the barns at 1134 Shelby street, a delegation representing the South Side Women’s Club today went away promising to wait peacefully until the municipal yards project is under way for the establishment of a market in the Shelby street structure. The board had nothing but courtesy and roseate promises for the delegation, among which was the assurance given by President George Lemanx that as soon as it is possible to move the mules out of the Shelby street place, which may be as early as next July, he will, if he still is on the board, see that plans for the market are advanced. He said that the board has ordered tbe street commissioner to put his street repair gangs to work grading the site of the proposed barns. When Mr. Lemaux said: “All this, of course, is contingent upon whether or not the city council ‘goes with us’ in the matter of a bond issue to finance the proposed new barns,” the delegation replied in chorus. “Oh, we ll keep after the council, all right.” And the women added: “If this talk turns out to be nothing but some promises we’ll keep after you, too." The Capital City Gravel Company, which has a plant for the removal of gravel from White River near the Oliver avenue bridge, was ordered by the board to cease digging on the present site of operations and remove that part of its plant situated upon city ground within the next ten days. If the company fails to comply the street commissioner will be ordered to remove the equipment. It was threatened. The Oliver avenue bridge abutments are in danger of being undermined by the company’s operitions. according to the city civil engineer. MEXICANS SEEN STUDYING NEXT U. S. American residents on this side of the border appear almost universally friendly to Obregon, Mexico's president-elect, and predict much progress for the country under his administration. There are vague rumblings reaching this side of the border, however, that there may be new outbreaks before Obregon assumes authority Dec. 1. Whether the threatened trouble would grow to such proportions as to prevent the inauguration of Obregon is pure speculation.
