HOLD SERVICES FOR MACSWINEY More Than 10,000 Persons File Past Coffin. LONDON, Oct. 28.—Funeral services were conducted today at St. George's Kom.in Catholic Cathedra!, Southwark, for Terence MaeSwiney, lord mayor of Cork, Ireland, xvho died in the seventyfourth day of his hunger strike at Brixton Jail. Early in the morning numerous workers, mostly clerks, postal employes, telegraphers and telephone operators, who had visited the church for devotional services, Joined in a dirge for the repose of the soul of the dead patriot. Crowds began to gather about the church long before the hour for the funeral service to begin. Police guards lined the streets. The plain and simple coffin, draped with the Sinn Fein flag and banked with floxvers, rested in state on a catafalque before the high altar at the head of the church. A death watch kept guard over the body all night, the warders being relieved at intervals of three hours. More than 10.000 persons filed past the coffin before the doors of the cathedral closed at 10 o'clock. Inside the cathedral members of the MaeSwiney family sat throughout the night, occupying mourns' benctß-s facing the catafalque. Candles In brass holders as high as a man's head burned dimly beside the coffin. * The only discordant note in the press comment on MacSwiney’s death and burial xvas sounded In the Mornins Post. This newspaper printed a protest against the government's decision to permit a funeral procession. A second funeral service will be held at Dublin, when the body arrirves there en route for Cork, where it will be buried Sunday beside the Sinn Fein volunteers who “fell in action.” MacSwiney’s body will lie in state at Dublin for twenty-four hours. It will then be taken to Cork Saturday. Wooden Leg Keeps Man From Suicide NEW YORK, Oct. 28—The police say today that the excellent fastenings on Alexander Frank's wooden leg alone prevented him from committing suicide. Crowds yesterday were startled to see him hanging head downward from a flfth-story window, with another man clutching one of his legs to restrain him from breaking away and casting himself into the street. | Hotel Men ‘on Own’ Cut Prices, Agent Says NEW YORK, Oct. 28.—Armin W. Riley, chief of the Department of Justice’s “flying squadron" of profiteer hunters, has announced slashing reductions in the prices of several big New York hotels and restaurants, which bate “quit the Hotel Men's Assoclal'on of New York.” Reduction of prices for the first class hotel "special” table d'hote dinners from $4.50 to $2.50 already are in effect, Mr. Riley said. Substantial cuts in breakfast and luncheon prices also hax’e been put in effect, Mr. Riley said.

19 OPERATORS SUPPLY COAL Commission Reports Result of Week’s Effort. Nineteen of the 250 operators of the State have turned supplies of coal to Indiana retailers during the last week, according to reports received by Jesse E. Eschbach, chairman of the special coal and food commission. Os the nineteen operators who reported five have given the State their entire output for use of Indiana consumers. The output of the nineteen mines for State use exceeds the requirements of the coa! commission from fifty net tons to 1,000 net tons on various mines. COAL SUPPLIES IN READINESS. Operators state that the last week gave them the opportunity to lay in supplies of coal which will be immediately consumed by retailers for sale purposes at the nexv prices. Orders for Indiana coal, according to Indianapolis retailers, are flooding their offices and coai cannot be loaded from their bins to their wagons and trucks fast enough for delivery. In many cases where Indiana coal is not had by retailers the orders are being accepted upon the strength of the coal commission** promise that coal will shortly be available. The commission ordered a total of 127,3GO tons of coal Bupplled to Indiana consumers. The average yearly total coal consumption in the State is 1,600,000 net tons, Including all coal used by railroads. The railroad coal may be bought in other States and used in this State, but is not listed by the coal commission as necessary for production by State mines, according to order No. 6, which affects the operators. INDIANAPOLIS RECEIVES 5,268 TONS. Os the total amount of coal produced by Indiana mine* during the last week this city received only 5,268 net tons. More coal is now en route to Indianapolis retailers. The ninteen companies produced a total of 64,044 tons, and 32,442 tons were shipped to points in this State. The next report of the coal operators is due next Saturday, and on the Saturday thereafter of each week, according to the commission’s order. South Bend Motorcop Injured Second Time Special to The Times. SOUTH VEX'D, Ind., Oct. 28.—For the second time In two months Bert Olmstcod, motorcycle officer, was Injured seriously in an automobile accident when the police motor boat, being towed through the streets, capsized. Olmstead, together with two other officers, who sustained lesser injuries, was riding in the boat to steady it. Early in September Olxnstead’s skull was fractured as a result of being struck by a car while chasing a robber. Sylvia Pankhurst Is Sentenced to 6 Mos. LONDON, Oct. 28.—Sylvia Pankhurst, associate editor of “The Workers’ Dreadnought,” today was sentenced to six mouths' imprisonment on the charge of circulating seditious literature in the navy.
