SAYS COUGHLIN BABY SMOTHERED Pasquale Said to rfave Confessed to Police Officer. HARRISBURG. Ta., Oct. 12.—Binkley Coughlin, the missing Norristown baby, was smothered accidentally and later burled near Egg Harbor, N. J., by August Tasquale, who confessed to the kidnaping in the Jail at Norristown Major Lyan G. Adams of the State police announced yesterday. Pasquale revealed the complete details of the kidnaping. Major Adams stated. The Major declared Pasquale seat for hint and confessed killing the Coughlin baby. Pasquale told of entering the Coughlin home and placing the child under his coat while he made his get away, Adams teid. Some distance from the house he unbuttoned his coat and found the- child dead, according to Adams. Adams declined to give out the information obtained freflh Pasquale relative to the exact place the baby Is burled. ' Pasquale’s confession ended a four months’ search for the missing infant. Recently he wrote a series of notes to the father demanding 112,000 ransom. WATSON DODGED SENATE ISSUES Opposed or Failed to Vote on Legislative Matters Vital to Farmer Interests. Senator Watson, whose record In the United States Senate runs strangely parallel to that of Senator Harding, failed to vote on 165 important measure* that arose during his term. Senator Harding dodged 195 rotes daring the same period. Watson, who is appealing to the agricultural element of Indiana for re-elec-tion to the senatorial cabal, did not disclose by his vote in the Senate that he we* always friendly to assisting the farmers, nor does his recoul show that he always bad the interests of the people ijt heart. For instance, he has been haring much to say about the administration, being responsible for the high price of sugar, yet when President Wilson went before congress and asked for authority to pnreliaski the Cuban sugar crop Watson voted against considering the grant. It has been demonstrated since that had the authority been given the Government af the proper time it would have l>ecn able to control the price of sugar. Harding also opposed the consideration. Watson failed to vote on measure# designed to promote production of focai crops* during the war, or agreeing to the conference report on the agricultural appropriation act and on an amendment reducing the appropriation for the eradication of cattle tick and other diseases. He registered a negative vote on -an amendment for the development of new fish sources of food during the war and allh opposed an amendment appropriating $20,000,000 for the relief of farmers in drought-stricken rggious which would have been In the natare of loan* not exceeding 4500.
