THREE MEN ARE KILLED IN MINE Clinton Shaft Has Second Accident in 4 Months. Special to The Times. CLINTON, Ind., Sept 7.—Three men, two of them brothers, were killed here Monday afternoon in a gas explosion in the Submarine mine of the Ferguson Spears company. The dead are: GEORGE SANDERS, S3. HARLEY SANDERS. 19. ROSS MOORE, 38, an uncle of the Sanders brothers. Seventeen mules, which were in the stable located in the mine 200 feet from the hoist, were also killed. The victims of the explosion had gone into the mines to feed the mules and it is thought gas accumulation was exploded by their torches. Searching parties found the bodies, badly burned, under a mass of rock and debris. This is the second catastrophe in the Submarine mine within the past four months resulting In fatalities, five men having lost their lives in an explosion that occurred May 1. The mine was idle the past week, pending settlement of a labor dispute and preparations were being made to begin work today as an adjustment of differences had been made. BELIEVE WOMEN IN MAJORITY. GREBNSBURG, Ind., Sept. 7.—When the official count of the registration is made it is thought the women will have the majority in this county.
