BOARD WORRIED BY CORN HUSKS Costs S2OO Additional to Run Garbage Plant With Them. The tempting sound of the husks being ripped ouay from luscious ears of green corn abroad in the land at present is not music in the cars of the city boon*, of sanitary commissioners. Lucius B. Swift, chairman of the sanitary board, today discussed with mem bers of the board of work* the problem which the tremendous consumption of green corn on Indianapolis tables presents. He said it is costing S2OO a week additional to run the garbage plant because the corn busks must be separated from other garbage before it is sent through the reduction machinery, because corn husks will not “reduce." Mr. Swift discussed the advisability of the board of works taking over the Job of sorting the husks from the “reducible'’ garbage by instructing the public to put their husks in separate containers, but the board was not favorably disposed to this proposal, because it would involve the hiring of additional men, mules and wagons. /
