THCBSDAT. JULY 20. Astrologers read this ns an unimportant day. Early in the morning Venus is in benefic aspect, but later Uranus is slightly adverse. Women at this time will project their ideals upon the public AQind, it is predicted. and they are likely to have much success, especially In the west. This is a lucky day for bringing together men and women in social entertainments. Summer resorts should profit tinder this direction of the stars. - There is a sign that seems to forecast much flirtation in which men will not be sincere. Uranus is in a place believed to encourage deception. The aspect read as presaging flirtation Is also held to influeuce all dealings between men and women. In public matters this may cause women to believe that they are accomplishing much when men really are merely pretending to co-oper-ate with them. While the sway i* moderately good for motion plcturea a.id other amusement! there is prophecy of changes In which reform organizations will be successful in gaining much control. Socialistic agitation in connection with public lands is foretold and there will be widespread intereat in new areas in which settlers will be scientifically aided, or will at least receive some sort of practical direction. H. C. L. REDUCED IN SOME LINES Wearing Apparel Less in Price, but Food Is High.
WASHINGTON, July 28.—The high cost of living has “very materially been reduced in some lines,” Howard L. Figg, special assistant to Attorney Genernl Palmer, in charge of the campaign against the high cost of living, said today in a review of the activities of his division. / " Price reduction has been most noticeable In wearing apparel and kindred lines; Figg said. The campaign in other directions, however, he admitted, has uot been completely successful, but agents of the department are concentrating their efforts on these lines. “In food we have not seen the reductions we should have had,” Figg contlnued. “This has been largely caused by the inability of the producer to get his atuff on the market, because of railroad tieups in various sections. “At the same time there has been some profiteering aud it looks as though there is collusion between merchants, midUletnen and others in certain lines to keep prices as high as possible. “While there is some profiteering of an involuntary character, we are trying to ref the offenders wherever possible.
