CHANGE LOCATION OF NURSES’ HOME Building to Be Erected on West Hospital Grounds. Following a conference at the City Hospital last night between the board of health and W. Earl Russ, architect, the location of the proposed nurses’ home to be erected on the City Hospital grounds was changed to the west side of the grounds. The tentative location, chosen by the board of health was at the northeast corner of the grounds, bounded by Tenth and Locke streets and the boulevard. Mr. Russ, after making a careful survey of the grounds and external conditions decided that the location -was unsuitable, owing to the poor outlook and being too near the driveways of the hospital and consequently 100 noisy. Building at this location would remove the home from the proximity of th other units of the hospital building. The location is in line with the two new Burdsal units which were erected In 1913 and 1034. It is about 350 yards from the location chosen by the board. It was said by Dr. Morgan, city health officer, that it was expected that the architect would have sketches of the building by some time early in September, when estimates for the bids could be made. The building is to cost between $300,000 and $430,000, and will house 150 nnrseo when used to capacity. According to Mr. Russ, who discussed the plans informally, the building will be one of the most complete of its kind in the country. The necessity for such a building Is apparent. Dr. Morgan said, when it 1* known that nurses now employed at tho City hospital actually have no homelike surroundings as to rooms and recreation, outside of unprepossessing sleeping quarters and a phonograph for amusement. There are sixty-eight nurses now on duty at the hospital, with the number of patients running from 100 to 350. IS. trembled in fear until a marriage Uceuse waa Issued and they were spirited to the home of Rev. Daniel G. Dunkln, pastor of the First Baptist church, where they were made man and wife. The young couple had just finished a speed breaking automobile trip from the home of the bride, near Greentown, to this city, to escape the wrath of the bride's father, who is said to have delivered himself of a threat to end the young man’s career. The father telephoned the sheriff to apprehend the couple. In a short time the father’s automobile drew up at the curb and the girl’* mother and grandmother appeared at the county clerk's office. City’s Standard Too High, Milk Men Strike KANSAS CITY, July 27.—Milk companies today grabbed labor's weapon and struck against enforcement of a city ordinance prescribing the grade of milk to be sold. Tho city was virtually without milk when the firms refused to send their wagons out on the routes. The companies said they took the action when city officials announced mnch of the milk distributed as grade A was below the standard. They claimed they were unable to deliver a better grade. They expected pressure by consumers to force city officials into revocation of the ordinance.
