CABARET SINGER AND DRIVER HELD Takes Man’s Body to Hospital in Car. NEW TORK, July 16.—Miss Loretta Leroy,' a cabaret singer, -with her chauffeur and another man, were held for questioning today in the investigation into the murder of a ma nldentlfied by the people as Afredo Grazianua, alias “Mike” McCarty. Miss Leroy drove to Bellevue hospital at 2 a. m. with the man's body in her auto. At first she said she was driving through the street and saw a man lying on the sidewalk dying. Later she said she was dining at a restaurant with the man, who she knew only as ■‘Mike." when someone told him he was wanted outside. A few minutes later he excused himself and went out. Miss Leroy said she heard a shot, ran out the door and found the man wounded. \ - Confederate Veteran Dies at Noblesville Special to The Times. XOBLESVILLE, Ind., July 16—Col. If. K. Taylor, SO, Is dead at bis home here. He served four years in the confederate army and was within thirty feet of Stonewall Jackson when he was shot. He also was with Lee when he surrendered to Grant at Appomatox. 'Col. Taylor was born in Virginia, coming to Indiana late in the sixties. He was a printer by trade and had worked on Indianapolis newspapers. He was employed on the Louisville Coupler-Journal, where he operated the first linotype machine used in that office. Brakeman Killed Near Logansport LOGANSPORT, Ind.,> July 16.—Charles E. Kennedy, brakeman on the Pennsylvania lines, was crushed beneath the wheels of a freight train and Instantly killed this morning north of here, according to word received in this city. Kennedy was 28 years old and his widow and three small children survive. He had been In the employ of the Pennsylvania Company for three years. Dislikes Kokomo, Divorce Suit Results Special to The Time*. KOKOMO.'ind.. July 16.—Thomas Hardiman, suing for a.divorce from Ethel Hardiman, says that she has nagged him to the point of desperation since the family moved to this city from Indianapolis. He avres in the complaint that she !s dissatisfied with Kokomo, her people and all of Hardlman’s friends here. Hot Oil Tank Starts Blaze in Icehouse An overheated oil tank started a fire at the Coonse & Caylor Icehouse, 8325 Moore avenue, at 1 o’clock this morning. Firemen put out the blaze with a loss of' 825. Hot cinders In a freight car on the Big Four railroad tracks between Noble and East streets, started a blaze early this morning and the fire department received a call. The car was but slightly damaged.

have nearly as much tc do as he should. We like to see Julian when he is almost all the play, and he is certainly not that in this one. The authors and title writers have nearly ruined what would really be a good production if Eltinge were allowed to have full reign. But as It Is, Eltinge makes the most of his handicap. He offsets the faulty and tastless titles by his splendid Impersonation of the female character. The fraud would not be detected If the audience were not in the secret with Julian. As usual, the men fall for the beauty, and “she” has a string of admirers constantly in “her” wake. There is danger, also, and the gay adventurer has some narrow escapes from the quick vengeance of the little country. The play is fair, and with a good chance, which it doesn’t have, would be a good production, as It has some unusual situations.
