In Asylum 45 Years; Out; Bath PROVIDENCE, R. 1.. June 11. - Anthony Baden Durfee spent his days living in a bathtub. So they put him in Butler asylum. They kept him there forty-five years. Now they have released him, the court finding that Anthony was not Insane at all. Durfee Is seventy-five years old. He loft his bathtub to talk to a reporter. “You will have to excuse me,” said he politely, "as 1 am juat from the bath. I am tired of living in an asylum. Fortyfive years is enough, don’t you think? I don’t know where I shall live yet, but shall let my relatives help me choose a place.” Attorney Edward J. -Noons, who fought the case against Durfee, says he has no objection to the patient's freedom s-.. long as his property is properly administered. Attendants at the asylum say that besides his obsession for cleanliess, the patient has other pronounced tastes. He abhors automobiles, and will walk miles rather than ride in a motor or electric car.

One day Just at nightfall Puss entered a gloomy forest. It was so dark he could barely follow the path and to make matters worse, It began to rain. But he kept bravely ond and by and by he saw a little light twinkling through the trees. Pressing eagerly forward, he finally came to a splendid castle and knocked boldly upon the oaken door. But, alas! no one answered. Ho was wet to the skin, for the rain still fell In torrents and the feather on his cap dropped over his shoulder and his redtopped boots almost overflowed with water. As he stood outside the door, uncertain what to do, a flash of lightning showed a great koy hanging by a golden chain, and fltflng the key in the lock, he bravely threw open the great door. In the hearth in the hallway burned a log fire and two dim candles from the mantelpiece threw strange shadows over the oaken floor. Pus dried himself as best he could and looked about him, liut there was no one In sight, and he was about to curl himself up for the night, when the doors at the lower end of the

Two cats In blanck mantles, with swords, escorted It to the royal clialr, or throne, as Puss supposed It to be. For a moment, Puss Junior thought ho must bo dreaming, but when the tiny figure threw hack the veil, he saw It was the loveliest little white cat Imaginable. She looked straight at him and said In a sad voice: “Oh, Puss in Boots Junior, why don’t you bring to me the King’s son, so that I may once more regain my natural shape?” “He would not have to be brought, my fair Lady,” replied Puss, with a bow; “did he but know where you were, he would not linger, I assure you.” “Very pretty words, my dear Puss,” replied her feline majesty, "but until he comes, as with the Sleeping Beauty, I am under a spell.” “Then tell me how to find him, and I will gladly hie me forth for your sake.” "Como nearer, then,” replied the little white cat, “and 1 will explain to you what must be done.” So Puss seated himself at her feet and waited. “Near by lies a kingdom over which

rules a King with three sons. To him who brings his father the prettiest dog is to succeed him on the throne. Now, Puss, dear, I love the youngest son so much that I would that he might have my dog to give to his father. And if the King’s son falls in love with me, the spell will be broken and I shall once more be a wnoman. Do you think if I gave him the dog and he won thereby the kingdom, he would fall in love with me?” “Indeed I do,” said Puss. “Moreover, tomorrow I will find him and bring him hither.” So Puss went to bed early, in order to be up with the sun the next morning.—Copy right, 1920.
