sums have been placed in the banks of San Antonio, New Orleans and New York, and even In Spain and France. It Is conservatively estimated that more than $25,000,000 of government funds, mostly derived from customs receipts, state taxes and railroad revenues, are now deposited in the banks of the Rio Grande border towns. Suits already have been Instituted by representatives of the de facto government of Mexico for the recovery of some of these funds. It is reported that the refugee governors of several states carried with them all the available cash in their respective treasuries when they fled across the border.
