WHEN A GIRL MARRIES A New Serial of Young Marri ed Life By ANN LISLE.-
CHAPTER LVIII. “Wbat’t that husband of yours boon doing?” demanded a voice from the doorway. I looked up from the eggs I was frying, and there stood my. brother, looking like a neatly scrubbed and tremendously overgrown young cherub. “You mean my eyes?" X smiled.' “It’s the eggs—they sputter so I always look weepy.” Conversation between Neal and me always was rather sketchy. In the old days we understood each other so woil that we frequently skipped a mental seen or two, and then sometimes we had to go back and unravel the “skipping.” Said Neal, truculently: “Nothing of the sort, Babbsie. I*ve teen you fry eggs before. What’s he up to to make you .cry?” “It's just that he’s’ so wonderful!” I cried. “You wouldn't understand—he’s so generous it hurts." “Hurts who? You can't put your ole fox Neal off that way, Babbsie. I know men—l do. You’re worried. I can see

that. I guess It's a darn lucky thing I came to New York Just when I did!" By now we had progressed to a corner of the refectory table, and Neal was revelling In raspberries and eggs and toast and cream flavored with coffee—all of which he mingled with royal disdain of the proper order of procedure. I handed Neal sugar for his berries, salt for his eggs, butter for his toast—and then took up the thread of conversation, using It as a clew to lead me precisely where I wanted to go. “About your coming to New York, Mr. Hyland—now, just how did that happen?” I asked. Neal waved a piece of toast in a largo gesture and flourished a spoonful of raspberries ash replied: “Say, Babbsie. I've got a swell job—simply swell: You’re little old fox Isn’t so slow. Who's the chap said our town was a good place to come from? Well I came young—early—pronto It seemed to me that Neal was overdoing things a bit, so I decided to overdo
the-n a bit also and to insist on a reply. “Neal, you haven’t answered me yet. Why did you come?” I demanded. ‘“Babbsie, you haven’t lost the trick of frying eggs. You flopped them Just right. Why did I come? For S3O a week! Are you answered, madam? Maybe yon don't think S3O a week Is a swell salary—maybe you don’t!” “What did Father Andrew think of your coming?" I demanded. “What would he think of It with you In town here?” questioned Neal in turn. "Why, of course, Father Andrew wouldn’t mind,” I said thoughtfully. "He’d expect you to stay right hero with us and he couldn’t help being proud of your earning so much—s3o, Neal for a baby liko you.” Neal rose majestically and frowned. "I'm 22, Anne. They think boys of 21 are men—old enough to go over and rush the Germans. And I've been working In an accountant’s office at home every summer since I was 15. You know that. I've had a good Job at home, too, since I got out of high school three years ago. Eighteen per wasn't so bad." "Eighteen a week out home would go almost as far as S3O here,” I said, wondering if Neal wouldn’t be better off at home. - "Well, you know I paid in $8 a week

LAST NIGHT’S DR 3AMS —And What They Mean—
Did you dream of mills? To dream of a mill, say some of the mystics, means a legacy coming to the dreamer very soon. Other* see In such a dream riches and success in proportion to the rapidity with which the machinery of the mill Is moving. Still others declare that the dream of a mill Is significant of a happy but eventful existence. They also attach to It the prophecy of a legacy to be received by the dreamer. A mill not In operation according to some of the oracles, means a lonely life. It Is good luck to dream that one Is working In a mill, especially In a flour mill for that slgnlfles weath through In-

dustry and also the achievement of an honorable position in the community. To dream of operating one of those little hand mills, such as are used In households for grinding coffee, spice, etc., it is not regarded as so fortunate as to dream of a real mill working by power—water, electricity, steam, wind, etc., for if you dream you are grinding spices with a hand mill It is an omen of vexations, and to dream <jf grinding cdffee an uncertain and prolonged enterprise. But any sort of a mill except the little hand mills are a fortunate augury if they are in operation and indicate no especially bad luck even if they are not running. A windmill signifies that you will hove needless fears of your stiocosg but that success will be yours.—Copyright, 1920.

Prominent Trained Nurse Highly Indorses Trutona as Efficient System Builder. —i < A striking feature of tho scores s| testimonials given dally in behalf of Trutona is the large number that come from doctors and nurses. For fourteen year* hereto her marriage, Mrs. Frank Torrence, of Fatrviev* I’ark, Decatur, 111., was a trained nursa. She occupied the position of head nurss at the Chicago Presbyterian Hospital for seven years and was associated with Decatur hospitals tli© remaining seven years of her professional career. Mrs. Torrence Is among the many professional people—those skilled in the science ol medicine—who have publicly Indorsed Trutona. In the following stacement, Mrs. Torrence tells Indianapolis people that Trutona Is, in every respect, aa efficient system builder. “I suffered an attack of lnfluenaa about a year ago,” she said, "which left n in a rundown condition. My appetite was very poor and I fait so tired and worn out most of the time. I began the use of Trutona after reading the formula, which assured me that the medicine was just fitted for my case. ”1 can say that I have received very flue results from the use of Trutona and ! can now recommend it to anyone as a system builder.” Such a statement from a woman ol Mrs. Torrence's experience should convince even the most skeptical that Trutona is truly a medicine of unusual merit.—Advertisement.
