' GARY LAWYER LOSES PAPERS (Continued From t’nje One.l granted citizenship pap°rs by the county Circuit court April 30. 1913. When he went on the witness stand, leaser seemecl to be in much better spirits than when he left the court yesterday afternoon and smiled at spectators. He mentioned a conference with Capt. John B. Campbell, who wns at the time of the conference a special agent In the Intelligence department of the army, in which he said Campbell upbraided him for his bolshevistic -principles. . “I told the captain," he said, ‘‘that I was not responsible for what the editejr of the Chicago Tribune writes, and I then explained to him the principles of bolshevism." Glaser again denied that he had said that. Liberty bonds w-ere no good and tbit the government backing rhem was no good, but he did admit that he had charged certain banking houses of the country with unpatriotism, when they discounted the face value of the Liberty bond issues. “I did not say anything about a red flag," Glaser stated in his denial of a conversation with Mayor William F. Hodges of GaVy. “T merely asked pernys!on to hold a parade and the mayor P^efused." Glaser denied the evidence ss set forth in the testimony of A. M. Harris that he was an active worker against the government during the occupation of Gary by the United States troops and that he aided “draft dodgers.” Again he denied that bolshevism means anarchy, and said that bolshevism simply means the rule of the majority. “Is the bolshevik regardful or regardless of the minority?” asked Judge Anderson. After much hesitation Glaser declared that he Is regardful of the minority. Upon the questioning by District Attorney VanXays Glas r admitted that he was a fugitive from jnstiee, according to the government of the czar of Russia, ar.d that lie obtained his passport from Russia hv bribing officers with between SIO.O-X* and 5X5,000. ■VanXuys further brought out that Glaser Is llTlng In a *30,000 home, and - that he has property worth 5125,000 oi 1150.000. Included In his property holding, he admitted, are farms In Wisconsin and Minnesota, property In Gary and valuable oil holdings In the west for which the Standard Oil Company offered him 11,000 per acre. In an explanation of how he had acquired this wealth. Glaser used general terms, saying that 522.000 of It had been Inherited by bis wife and that the remainder had been made from the practice of law and Investments. He would not tell the court what the Investments were. “I am living In a capitalistic country, not under a socialistic government, and if I were living in a socialistic government I would have no use for my land and my property." Glaser said. “Would you give yonr property away?" asked the Judge. “Certainly,” said Glaser, **lf thlt were a socialistic form of government. McADOO TO RUN p*.
