WOMEN SWELL HOSPITAL FUND North Side Laicn Converted Into *Circus J Grounds. Japanese geisha girls, “Seminole Indians" and real lire alligators together with a number of other unique attractions gave the lawn of Mrs. George Gar’s home, 4SIO North Meridian street, the general appearance of a street fair, this afternoon. The fete was given by the Service Star legion, Hamilton Berry chapter, for the benefit of the hospital fund of the organization. Mrs. Linton A. Cox and Mrs. Herman Monk composed the general committee on arrangements. Miss Caroline Coffin and Mrs. John E. Hendricks were in charge of the Japanese tea garden. Members of the Southern club served biscuits and pancakes from an old-time southern kitchen. An Indian wigwam where a “Seminole chief" and a number of children In costume entertained the onlookers created lively Interest The “big chief,” who was billed as a full-blooded Indian, proved to be Mrs. Munk. Mrs. Howard Gay and Mrs. Bruce Maxwell were among the assisting hostesses. Series of Events at Country Club A series of festivities for the week-end have been planned by the women of the Country club. • Today a flag tourney for golfers was held after which tea was served on the lawn. Mrs. Don P. Hawkins, Mrs. Parker Geddes and Mrs. Felix Geddes were In charge of the afternoon's events. Saturday night a dinner dance will be held in the club ballroom. Hostesses for the evening win include Mrs. Matthews Fletcher, Mrs. P. G. Booker, Mrs. Robert B. Failev, Miss Julia Brink. Sunday afternoon a musical tea will be given under the direction of Mrs. Arthur Grover, Mrs. John N. Carey, Mrs. George Q. Rockwood and Mrs. Hervey Bates, Jr. The Orloff trio will give a program of ensemble numbers. A speedway dinner dance will be the attraction for Monday night. The club directors will have charge of the arrangements. Mrs . Bridges Heads New Needle Club Mrs. N. Bridges was chosen president of the newly organized Needle clnb of the Pythian Sisters of Irvington Temple No. 411, which met yesterday with Mrs. W. N. Webster, IS2S Schurmann avenue. Mr*. William Thayer was elected vice 1 president. MEETINGS TO AID CHURCH DRIVE. Meetings will be held in connection with the drive of the Interchurch World Movement at Indianapolis next Wednesday, Evansville and South Bend Thursday and Ft. Wayne, Terre Haute and New Albany on Friday to acquaint the people of the state with the future plana of the movement.
