No Higher Price for Barbering A Piain Statement of Facts I am a barber. I am not a philosopher or an economist, but common sense teaches me that the ODly way to check rising prices is to stop raising prices. Therefore, when, by mutual agreement, the barbers tacked on another 25% to the prices, which already were at the breaking point, I refused to follow and am now charging the old prices. Saturdays and holidays are always “rush” days, and it is impossible for my present force to accommodate the patronage. So, merely to encourage patronage on the “off” days and to discourage it on the “rush” days, my shops will charge 25c for shave and 50c for hair cut on Saturdays and holidays only. On all other days the old prices will prevail. Everything entering the barber business —supplies, laundry, heat and labor—has advanced from 100% to 300%. But the public is in no mood to be “soaked” again, and I am going to charge the lowest price at which I can break even on the business.
