f NTI-MACHINE ' G. 0. P. TO MAKE FIGHT IN FALL S^odrich-Jewett Opposition Finds Continued Need of Its Activities. POLITICS PUBLIC EVIL Announcement is made that the organisation of Marion county republican workers which formed the nucleus of the opposition to the Goodrich-Jewett organization in the last primaries will be maintained for activity in the election and in the following city campaign. This organization supported Dr. E. E. Hodgins for county chairman and was (••feated by a much narrower margin in tne reorganization of the republican committee than the final vote indicated. Analysis of the republican organization, as it is constituted, shows that the responsibility for Marion county's republican vote next fall rests almost exclusively with the Charles W. Jewett administration. More than fifty of the precinct comjtSrteemen are employes of the city of Indianapolis. At least ten njore are connected, indirectly. with the city payroll. In other words, the city of Indianapolis, through its treasury, which Mayor Jewett has been declaring too low to permit needed improvements, is to maintain the bulk of the republican organization throughout the city campaign. This is contrary to the Intent of the primary law and is only possible through the amendments which have been made by republican legislators to the primary law. CORRECTION SOUGHT FOR POLITICAL. EVILS. When the primary law was drafted the evils of having a political organization maintained at public expense were ▼cry apparent in Indianapolis and a provision was made in the law to correct them. Municipal employes were barred from positions in the organization of the two parties. ' The fulfilment of this obligation to prevent waste of city money was pledged by the so-called “good government and clean politics" candidates, among whom Mayor Jewett was the leader. But after the “good government" candidates were elected to office their viewpoint changed They realized that with patronage under their control the easy way to retain control of the political organization was to combine the patronage with party work. The result of this realization was the withdrawal of the proscription against municipal employes being precinct committeemen. The result of this withdrawal of the limitation is that Mayor Jewett has assumed the responsibility for Marion county’s republican party. Therefore, whatever happens In the city administration is linked with the county republican organization. They are one and the same in Marion county. Realization of this fact makes it apto the “antis" that they must hold their organization for use In the city campaign. Dr. Hodgins expressed his opinion of the fight in a recent interview that contained food for thought. MISAPPLIED PRAISE AND CONDEMNATION. “I discovered in the course of my canvass that many of the most maligned members of the republican party were included among those whom one could depend upon to be ‘square’, under all conditions,” he said. ■*•‘l found that a number of the muctalaurfed gentlemen in politics. were not to be trusted. " * • - "I also found the greatest degree of real patriotism among the foreign-born citizens. “These foreign-born citizens have more faith in the government and a clearer conception of the opportunities afforded under ehe American government than many natives. “They are really trying to be good citizens and such things as padded election returns and trickery at the polls does immense harm among them. "When they are the victims of political trickery they either treasure the wrong and prepare to repay it in kind next election or they become dlsTo Get Strong and Put on Flesh • People who have tried It say that on* ▼rs the quickest and surest waya la Which those who are weak, thin, nervous and run down can grow strong end fmt on pounds of solid stay-there fleeh. 9 to take a 5-graln tablet of Blood-Iron Phosphate with each meal. PEPGEN FAMED FOR STOMACH Pegen is not a secret remedy. The formula is printed on the back of every package. It contains only remedies of approved and recognized merit. All of the ingredients are carefully selected and scientifically compounded by the special Pepgen Process, in which neither sugar nor alcohol is used. Persons with stomach ills should carefully avoid sugar,*as should also people with pains In the back. Sugar often produces what is called saccharine ferment. Alcohol is very bad for people who are subject to rheumatic ills and even the slightest amount of this stimulant sometimes produces an attack. In Pepgen will be found peppermint leaves used to stop nausea, relieve spasmodic pains in the stomach and bowels and expel gas. Gentian root, which possesses tonic properties in a high degree. It aids and Invigorates digestion. Peruvian Bark, an anti-malarial agent, is of service in debility and wasting diseases, pallor, impoverished blood and feeble recuperative powers are often relieved by Its use. Fringe Tree Bark exerts a special Influence upon the liver. It is of benefit where there is yellowness of the skin and eyes and a sense of uneasiness in the right side. Black Cohosh, through its influence upon the muscular system, is recommended for neuralgia and lumbago. Plantain leaves contain properties valuable in various derangements.—Adv.
A SINGLETON ST. WOMAN’S STORY ECHOES IN ALL PARTS OF CITY; HUNDREDS TELL SIMILAR TALES
When Mrs. Edward Schneider, IS3O Singleton street, Indianapolis, tells how Pepgen relieved her husband of pains in his back and stomach it receives an echo from nearly every part of the city for hundreds are telling similar tales about this preparation. Mrs. Schneider’s husband is a decorator in the employ of Coppock Brothers, Ohio and Meridian streets. She says. “My husband suffered with pains In hls back and stomach. There was hardly a day passed that he felt just right. He was nervous and easily fatigued. "I heard of Pepgen and obtained a bottle. My husband began taking.lt. In a short time hls pains were better and as he continued to take it he continued to get better results. Ha says he now feels better than he has for a long time. He does not complain of Ma back and stomach hurting him and he does not seem so tired when he comes home at night after hls day’s work. “I think I’cpgen Is a great tonic and
WORK IN HER TEN ROOM HOUSE NOW LIKE PLAT, SHE DECLARES
f|l|- " - s - s ' ' :: ■ ;
According to Mrs. May Hull, who Urea at 923 Sixth avenue, Des Moines, lowa, work in her ten-room house is now like mere play. Few men folks understand what this means. They can t realize the many steps a woman takes and the million other things she does to keep their homes cczy and clean. Only women know the true meaning of housework and the physical strength it takes to make them enjoy it. Perhaps no testimony yet told demon-i strates the full value of Pepgen any more than the Interesting story Mrs. Hull tells. She says: "A chronic cold In the head caused me a great deal of suffering. I generally got out of hed In the morning with a bad taste in my mouth and dizzy headache. I had no appetite for breakfast. I was nervous and everything seemed to upset me. At times I had to ask my children to play outside. I could* not stand the noise they made. “Since taking Pepgen my improvement has been wonderful. My head is as clear
i ENJOY EVERY MOMENT OF THE DAY,” SAYS A VERMONT ST. WOMAN WHOSE FORMER LIFE WAS WOEFUL
Mrs. Minnie Ulrey, 536 West Vermont street, Indianapolis, is happy all day long, she says. Perhaps Mrs. Ulrey ia more able to appreciate happiness than many others, because for a long time her life was filled with misery. It takes a great contrast often to make us really enjoy good things when we have them. Without darkness we would not know light, without pains we would not realize ease. Those who are in perfect health can not feel sympathy in Mrs. Ulrey’s statement, but those who suffer from ills, such as she had, will weigh her words hopefully when she relates her experience with Pepgen. “I certainly do recommend Pepgen,”

system builder and my husband joins me in recomending it.” It as what the people who have used Pepgen say about it that counts most. Pepgen is well advertised, it is true, but such a record breaking demand could not be brought about by advertising alone.. One bottle of Pepgen is sold in a neighborhood through advertising, but ten more are sold in chat community after the first botle produces results. People are always willing to talk about their ailments but they are more than willing to tell others of a medicine that helps them. Pepgen's best friends are those who have used it. They are the men and women who consider it their duty, a duty they dare not shirk, to tell others about Pepgen. Those who wish to know more of Pepgen may do so at Henry J. Huder’s drug stores, Washington and Pennsylvania streets and llinols and Michigan streets. Other first class druggists in Indianapolis and throughout the state also sell Pepgen.—Adv.

as a bell. I have a fine appetite and am not troubled with headaches. We have a ten-room house and I feel so much stronger that my housework Is mere play, where' before It seemed as if I could never get through. I feel that I can not praise repgen too highly.” Many women are compelled to lie down at frequent Intervals during the day. This, Is course, is due to weakness, the forerunner of serious Ills to follow. At first there will be languor, especially in the mornings, faintness, dizziness and sinking sensations in the pit of the stomach. The digestion becomes impaired, then comes shortness of breath, cold hands and feet, headaches, paleness, dark circles under the eyes and a dragging pain across the hips. In scores of cases Pepgen has been the means of relieving women, because It gives strength and tone to the system. Testimonials from women right here in Indianapolis who have used it say: “It has made me feel like anew ■woman;" "I feel healthy again;" “I enjoy my housework,” and other like expressions,— Adv. I f
avers Mrs. Ulrey, “Before I took it Xi was suffering with pains all over my body, which were no doubt caused by uric acid In my system. These pains would move about from place to place. First, they would be more severe In my limbs and then in my arms, then In my side. I felt miserable most of the time. I was very nervous and, of course, my system was run down. “Pepgen acts like It was especially made to relieve my case. It seemed to go right to the very spot where I suffered most pains and ease them. I am now free from pain and I certainly enjoy every moment of the day. “My general health is better in every way since I have been taking Pergen.** —Adv.
A FATHER AND MOTHER PLEASED
Well-Known Indianapolis Contract*# Tells How Pepgen Relieved Hls Boy.
“I gave Pepgen to my son, who has had a very bad stomach, and It helped; him,” says J. W. Watz, a prominent carpenter contractor who lives at 1342 Union Street, Indianapolis. “My wife and I are both pleased witb Pepgen and think it Is a great medicine for children. It is a safe medicine to give children because it doesn't contain any alcohol or poisonous drugs. “Besides having a bad stomach our boy was nervous. However, our worries ar* over now, Hls stomach doesn’t bother, him in the least and we feel that we ow a big debt of gratitude to Pepgen.” In order that food may build our bodies it must be properly digested. It must be prepared Just like materials used ia building a house. Raw materials must be worked into proper condition and shape for use. Each different food like each different building material must be handled by different workmen, corresponding to carpenters, plasterers, paperhangers and painters. After due preparation food, like building material, is ready to take its place in the body. That is called assimilation and explains why some people can eat potatoes and can not touch onions while others enjoy onions and can not touch radishes. Their organs of as-< slmilation are at fault. It is necessary for every person to keep the organs of assimilation and digestion in good health. The constitution demands a variety of foods. Those whotake Pepgen say they can eat anything without discomfort. It has relieved thousands of cases of headache, constipation, indigestion, dyspepsia, sluggish liver and other ailments because it Induces good digestion. Men and women who need better digestion, more strength and a toning up of the nervous system may learn more of Pepgen at Henry J. Huder’s drug stores, Washington and Pennsylvania Sts., aI6Q Illinois and Michigan Sts., or from any first-class drug store lu Indianapolis and other cities and town* throughout the state. —Adv.
CHILDREN SHOULD BE WATCHED WITH VERY GREAT CARE They Require Perfect Digestion, Otherwise Delicate Tissues Are Not Nourished. One of the greatest mistakes a parent can make is to neglect looking after a child’s digestion. The tissues of a child’s body are very delicate. They have not acquired the powers of endurance which older people, possess. The greater portion of the 1 food they eat is required for growth! and development. . . Together with the double strata a£< studying and growing, r child’s diges-; tion is taxed to the limit and parent*; should see that their children havei prompt attention should stomach disor-; ders occur. Thousands of parents say that Pep-, gen, the great reconstruction tonic, has; benefited their children—given them bet.-: ter digestion, made them stronger, MBS restless. Pepgen has been a real help to many an anemic child because it puts bloodj of good, rich, red quality into their little veins and makes them want to laugh* and play. PURE CASCARA IS A FINE LAXATIVE But It Is Greatly Improved by the Addition of Senna Leaves. Pure cascara is one of the best laxatives known in the medical world but cascara alone is not always sufficient to overcome a severe and aggravated case of constipation. Senna leaves are another popular home remedy for constipation but like cascara they will not answer the problem where the ailment Is of long standing. To secure best results cascara and senna should bo used in combination. Two small horses traveling in the same direction will always outpull one horse that weighs as much as both of them. To mix cascara and senna in exactly the proper proportions to always have, a uni*,rm dose requires a chemist’s skill but you can purchase them, already mixed, under the name of "Pepgen Laxative Tablets." Pepgen Laxative Tablets are especially suitable for nursing mothers, for people with delicate stomachs and for chi!-! dren where great care must be exercised In selecting a laxative. They are pleasant to take. Eat them) like candy. One tablet should be taker* night and morning, gradually discontinuing their use as the actions of tha' bowels become normal.
