M LAFAYETTE, Ind., April 21.—Thol Wabash river at several points in vicinity has reached an alarming stage and the end of the rainfall likely averted a general flood condition. Much property in the lowlands is under water. Service on the interurban line to Battle Ground was abandoned because the tracks were submerged in some districts. The river was still reported rising in Terre Haute this morning and lowlands are inundated. At Logansport a dangerous condition also prevails. In the southern “and southwestern parts of the state along the Ohio and Wabash ’rivers, respectively, parts of several towns are submerged. Elliston in Greene county, situated on the west fork of the White river, report* a flood condition. Mr. Hood and his daughter Mary were in the house nt the time. A conference between Mr. Hood and a real estr.te man who wanted to Hood's residence was finished and Hood came downstairs, Inquiring if he thought he would sell. Restaurants Seek Carload of Sugar An effort will be made by a committee representing the Indianapolis Restaurant association to obtain a carload of sugar to be apportioned among the various restaurants in the city to relieve the presetn shortage, according to Floyd E. Payne, downtown restaurant owner. The committee was appointed at a meeting of the association last night at Hotel English. A committee was also appointed to *nvestigate the gas situation and take steps to obtain gas service at least during the preparation of the noon meal.
