Flying to Boost Army Recruiting Assignment of enlisted men as pilots at the aviation repair depot at the speedway is expected by Maj. Jacob Rudolph, to stimulate recruiting for this branch of the service, the commander said today. Sergts. TrueJlo and Mills will be sent to Chicago on a recruiting mission in two planes soon. In the past enlisted men have gone aloft only as observers. At present the depot is short of its quota of IS6 by about twenty men and. It is expected, the need for recruits will grow as the quota is likely to be enlarged. Centennial Fete Extended One Day The Indianapolis centennial celebration. originally planned for June 3 to June 8 has been extended to include -Wednesday, June 9, It was announced uxjay by Harry G. Hill, executive Secretary of the centennial committee. The celebration 'will officially start Saturday night, June 5, with a mass meeting at Tomlinson hall. A street pageant will be staged on the night of Monday, June 7, the day on iiich the city is 100 years old. On Tuesday night, June 8, a historical pageant will be presented In the coliseum at the state fairgrounds. A water carnival will be held Wednesday night, Juue 9. ILLINOIS PARTY LEADERS PLACE M’ADOO IN RACE State Boom Launched for Former Secretary of Treasury as President. SOLE ENTRANT TO DATE CHICAGO, March 31. —William G. McAdoo was placed in the race for the presidency with the launching of a boom for him by Illinois democrats here to- | day. ! The movement to boom the former secretary of the treasury was begun a few (lays by leading democrats of the state, and was made known today by Michael Igoe, former assistant United States district attorney and democratic leader of the state assembly. ASSERT McADOO KNOWS OF MOVE. The boom, according to Igoe, was launched on the responsibility of 1111- : nois democrats, although it was declared that "it was believed McAdoo had knowledge of it.” With the movement well under way for McAdoo, supporters of Attorney General Palmer's candidacy are expected to open their campaign shortly. As it is now, McAdoo is the only democratic candilate actively making the race in Illinois. Establishment of a national headquarters in Chicago by the democratic national committee will be made within the next two weeks, it was said here today. Lowden, “favorite son," -with a speech at a mass meeting. Charles G. Dawes, president of the Central Trust bank, a strong admirer of Gen. Pershing, has been busily engaged lately organizing a publicity machine which he is expected to turn loose in support of the Pershing cause the minute the general has won the Nebraska indorsement tn the April 20 primaries. Lenox Club Works to Improve Streets The Lenox Improvement club today is formulating plans to obtain Improvements between Olney and Dearborn streets and between Twenty-fifth and Thirty-fourth streets, in accordance with a resolution adopted at the weekly meeting last night at the store of Outer 3.
