WOOD UNHURT BY BRAIN OPERATION Had Lqrge Tumor Removed 10 Years Ago, Friends Say . NEW YORK, March 26. —Announcement has been made by friends of Maj. Gen. Leonard Wood that the operation by which a large tumor was removed from his brain ten years ago, has not Impaired his physical or mental condition. The announcement was made at a meeting of the women's department of the Wood campaign committee at the home of Mrs. Douglass Robinson, sister of the late Col. Theodore Roosevelt. Dr. Alexander Lambert, personal friend of Wood, quoted Dr. Harvey Cushing of Boston, who performed the operation, as authority for this statement. It was explained that while Wood was governor general of Cuba, he rose suddenly from his desk and struck his head on a chandelier. A stiffness of the left foot developed. Several years later be underwent the operation.
