JEWISH COUNCIL TO LAUNCH DRIVE “Americanization" is the slogdn of the Council of Jewish Women In their drive for funds. During the war this organization gave Invaluable service on Ellis Island for Immigrants who could not come into the United States nor return to their homes. It. was the only wonrva> organization admitted to the island aud only six organizations of any kind were allowed to do work there. The council did not ask for funds during the war, using its private funds for the work. After such hea/ry expenses caused by the extensive relief work carried on the council finds its almost exhausted and there Is so much more to be done that money must be raised. The big work of the club ahead Is Americanization ; giving education to Jews in the congested districts and ghettos of the large cities; getting them out on farms; bringing to the women and children education on sanitation so that they will know how to manage their homes out In the country; help for the blind Jewish folk who do not understand English and having Hebrew alphabets made for the blind so that they may gain some education. Funds must be provided for this work. One of the women In the relief work of the connell Is Miss Goldsmith of Philadelphia, who until the present time has given her services voluntarily. From now on It Is proposed to compensate her.
Women will also be sent broadcast to promote relief work. This requires money. So this great drive is on among the Jewish people of the country. The national minimum quota Is SIOO,OOO and the local quota Is $2,500. The ludl' .lapolis chapter of the Jewish council met this morning and developed the plans for the drive. Mrs. Douls Wolfe Is president of the Indianapolis chapter and Mrs. Hahn is vice president. DRAFT DODGERS HERE TO BE HELD Head of State Bureau Expects to Act in Two Weeks. The government Is still on the trail of draft dodgers and several arrests probably will be made In Indiana during the next two weeks, according to Charles Tlghe, In charge of the Indiana bureau of Investigation. The department of Justice has been gathering evidence on those alleged to have evaded military duty unlawfully for several months, and It Is said that preparations are now under way to make a cleanup la Indiana. Those arrested probably will lie turned over to military offVlals for trial, as the penalty for evading conscription under the federal statutes limits Imprisonment to a year and a day, -whereas the military court-martials can fix a much heavier penalty.

New York: When Miss Dorothy Dalton, the beautiful Ince star, who was ■elected for the leading role lu that mammoth New York production. "Aphrodite.'’ was questioned as to the secret of her phenomenal success, she unhesitatingly said, “My complexion." When asked further details she explained: “Every one of my friends always raved about the texture and coloring of uiy skin, and I have no doubt but that my first engagement was made possible through the reputation I had acquired for a beautiful complexion. Managers are like ordinary mortals, they admire a beautiful skin as much as any one, and In selecting their casts they naturally prefer those whose complexions are attractive. I think the best asset any girl or woman can have la a beautiful skin and complexion. It Is easy to have this If one will spend only a little time In taking care of the skin. A giri may have Irregular features, but If she possesses a beautiful complexion sbe will attract attention anywhere. I am always glad to tell any girl or woman just bow she may possess a skin like mine. Here Is the recipe: Night and morning cleanse the sktn first with warm water then apply a good cold cream (Dlska cold cream I have found to be the best) after massaging It Into the skin take off the superfluous cream with a soft cloth. Then before going out during the day or evening I apply Derwillo, a simple toilet preparation whieh can be purchased at. the toilet counter of any up to-date drug or department store. The first application of tbla wonderful DurwlUo will a*-,
tonlsh you. It imparts Instant beauty ta the skin and makes a rosy-whtte complexion, every one will talk about. I find it excellent for my complexion ae It protects my skin in all kinds ,of weather. That’s why I prefer fit to all other toilet preparations and am never without it. Many of my professional friends to whom 1 have recommended Derwillo use it in preference to all other face powders or beautifiers ‘ Just try It once before going to the theater, danfrea, parties or an afternoon call and note tho favorable comnjents of your friends. Derwillo instantly puts a lifelike tint on your cheeks which defies detection. It takes the place of face powder and stays on until you wash It off. Perspiration does uot affect it nor will It run off on clothing: It also prevents the nose and face from shining." It’s wonderful for a dark, sallow rough skin, blackheads, coarse pores, oily skin, freckles, tan and for the Instant beauty It Imparts. Over 500,000 girls and women are using it. It's absolutely harmless to the most sensitive skin.
