This Is what aity <o2fldals today said ■was the concensus of opinion following a conference of members of the city council, Mayor Jewett and members of the board of public works and safety, at the city hall last night. The conference was called for discussing the proposed expenditure of $300,003 for remodeling. TAGGART GIVES LI9T OF IMPROVEMENTS. A. Ik Taggart, president of the board of public safety outlined the Improvements which his board and the board of Siblie works believe should be made if e council wili act so as to make the money available. He declared that the market was in a very Insanitary condition, as pointed out frequently by the board of health and that Immediate action Is required. Some counellmen questioned the advisability of the Installation of a restaurant as part of the market equipment Board of safety members declared that they felt this was Justified by the fact that there are approximately 1,500 employes of market stands, who ougt\jt to have a clean, sanitary place where they could get quick meals, since they can not remain away from their duties very long at a time. It was stated that the restaurant would pay for Itself In a Tery little while. MARKET CHANGE CONCERNS HEALTH. Whan Councilman Louis W. Local Agents Doubt Boost in Tire Prices A general advance In tire prices, ranging from 10 per cent on fabric to a* high as 20 per cent on cord tires, will be made Monday by leading manufacturers, according to a dispatch from New York today.
