AUTO SHOW BIG BUSINESS EVENT Tradesmen Urged to Attend Twentieth Annual Exhibition. Generous support of the twentieth automobile show at the state fair grounds March 8 to 13 was urged by N. H. Car♦inhour. vice president of the Indianapolis Automobile Trade association today. To further this support the association is extending special invitations to all business men's organizations to attend the jhow. The business men are urged to help make the exhibition stand out. above all others in the country this year. “Nothing outside of the speedway races and the state fair gives Indianapolis such widespread advertising as does the automobile show,” Mr. Cartinhour said. “The state fair does not get Indianapolis Into the leading articles of a large number of important trade journals for several issues like the auto show. It Is a very important factor in maintaining the city's hola upon the honor of being the second motor car producing municipality in the world. Without the automobile show serving as a review of what the manufacturers have done each year Indianapolis would have great difficulty in showing the rest of the world her superiority. “Not that we are going to show only Indianapolis made ears, but we ere going to have all of the local product? there, to demonstrate bow great the city looms as a motor production center In comparison with the number of models from other cities. “Very few people outside of the motor industry seem to know that the Indianapolis show Is looked upon by the rest of the country as one of the big events on the automobile calendar. They look to Indianapolis not only for one of the best bnsiness shows but also one of the most artistic. “There is another very vital reason why the show ought to have the support of all business men. It supports the business men themselves. It is no small enterprise which 6pends $30,000 or more every year right in Indianapolis. This is what the Indianapolis Automobile Trade association does. “Materials for decorating the Manufacturers’ building, all of the printing and paper necessary for the tremendous advertising campaign and many other purchases are made either directly from or through local merchants. “It is a peculiar thing that some folks can not see why it is necessary to charge admission to the auto show. The production cost Is, in general, several thousand dollars greater than that of the bigger theatrical attractions which come to Indianapolis. The big shows are produced to run thirty, forty or fifty weeks. The auto show is staged to run Jnst one week. Folks who question why they should pay 50 cents to see the automobile show will pay $3 for a seat at the “Follies,” staged at far less expense and on a far less* magnificent scale, without a murmur.” The attendance record will be broken et the Twentieth show, Mr. Cartinhour predicted. Farm Agent Resigns for Second Time Ralph M. Gilbert has resigned ss county agricultural agent, but will retain bis position until his successor is appointed by the county board of education. Gilbert desires to devote all of his time to fanning. lie resigned once before, but was induced to reconsider.
