Today’s Market Gossip Fisk Tire declared initial quarterly dividend of 75 cents, putting It on 'a (3 annual basis. Nothing of import transpired at the meeting of Baldwin stockholders held to day. Only routine business came up, it wa* reported. Minneapolis wires that there in considerable letup on demand for nil cash grains. Market reported slow, with no material prl<e change^. Grain letter bv wire from Chicago says that at no time in the recent past have receipts of corn been up to expectations. Every possible effort to move corn to market has been made without succeeding in building up a stock. The time for a movement has gone by. Market may hesitate, but there is nothing now discoverable that could weaken the market. New York wire says: “The foreign news, especially that part which deals with liusia, suggests the old world is desirous of restoring its equilibrium, but no definite results, assuming the Russian reports to be true, can be expected immediately. It reflects the trend. Keep in tnind our limited money supply." The Modern Miller says: "Moisture is necessary for the wheat in scattered portions of both Kansas and Oklahoma. In parts of these states it is greening up, but much wheat shows brown in central Kansas. Considerable evidence of fly infestation in southern Missouri, southern Illinois, Ohio and Indiana. Recent snow in Indiana gave much needed moisture. Injury is reported iu scattered sections by low temperatures and lack of snow covering. A further reduction in acreage is probable. [email protected] [email protected] 1.75016.00 The highest prices paid for hogs this week were realized on the closing day and they were the highest that have been paid here since the second Tuesday this month. As compared with the low time Wednesday of this week there has been a gain of a little more than $1 In the general sales and there has been a net gain of 50 cents to $1 In prices compared with the final sales last week. There has been considerable relief In the discrimination against the heaviest hogs and the extreme range In sales of matured hogs now Is only about half as great as It was a little more than two weeks ago. The advance In prices over those of Frldt.y was 50 cents to 75 cents. The lightest bogs sold at $15.75 to sl6, and the heavier kinds dt sls to $15.50. There were comparatively few bogs sold lower than *15.25, and there were many more sold at sl6 than there was at $15.60 on Friday, l'lg prices were $1 higher in extreme cases with the top price $15.50, and sows were steady from $13.25 down. In addition to 4.000 fresh receipts there were 700 layovers and a good clearance w%s mads at the advance In prices. Cattle. The market for cattle on the closing day this week was rapid and there was an early clearance of the scant receipts of fewer than 250 cattle. It did not appear that prices were materially different from those of the day before but all traders agreed that they were strong and that if there was any difference it was In favor of the selling side. A few calves sold at the start at about steady prices, but later the good veals were mostly $1 lower at s2l down and the medium calves wore considered $2 lower nnd bard to sell. There was little Inquiry for feeding cattle, nnd despite a disappointing outlet all week, there was little If any adverse change !u the list of prices. The week closed with a total of 6,000 cattle, against 7,009 Inst week, and although that Is not a big loss, it served the purpose of sellers to push prices to a higher level. The advance was uneven from 50c on some of the lower grades to 75c or $1 for i some of the choice kinds, and the cantier cows finished the week at a loss oi fully 50c It. prices. The good veal calves were steady at the close of this week as compared with the opening day of the week. Sheep. A few lambs that were not top kinds fold on the final market this week at *1759, and a few sheep as high as 89, which was considered steady with the way the same kinds sold on the 'lay before. The light receipts of fewer than I 100 were soon placed. There were 7(k' l more sheep and lambs this week than last week and the trnde was featured by the number of western fed youngsters that sold from SIS to $20.23. the top price being ns high e\ It was In any other western market.

SHORTS COYER; GRAINS GO UP Market Dull and Listless Up to Last Hour.
