Sons of the American Revolution, held at the Claypool hotel last night. Chancellor L. .Tenkg, president general of the organization, was among the speakers. Terre Haute, was recommended as trustee to the national society. The installation of an Indiana history course in public schools is the result of a-movement started In 11*14 by Profv Herbert L. Briggs of Terre Haute. Since that time educators in various parts of the state have taken up the matter, and It was flnnlly accomplished. The general lack of knowledge on the pert of Hoosiors in regard to the his tory of their owp state has long been recognized, and this, fact was a groat factor in bringing about tho adoption of the new course according to Prof. Briggs. City Engineers Ask Rail BilPs Signing President Wilson’s signature to the Esch-Pomerene railroad bill Is urged in a telegram sent to him by the Indianapolis chapter of the American Association of Engineers, following the weekly meeting of the chapter in the Chamber of Commerce building. The engineers are boosting H. O. Garman, chief engineer of the public service commission, as one of the directors of the national association.

9 ELDERLY HEIRS SHARE $2,500,000 Ages Range From 44 to 90 — Never Knew Oil Man in Life. CHICAGO, Feb. 20.—Nine heirs to the estate of William I*. Cowan, former president of the Standard Oil Company of Indiana, began to believe again in fairy tales today. The decision of Judge S. L. Rathje at Wheaton gives each a share, amounting to nearly $200,000 in the estate of the man whom none of the heirs ever saw. Judson Phelps, 90 years old, of Detroit, is one of the legal heirs to the $2,500,000 legacy, the Judge decided. Five others are more than 70 years old. The youngest is 44 years old. STUDENTS BUILD SCHOOL. HOUSTON, Tex., Feb. 26.—Fifty students of manual training at tho West End nigh school here, are erecting a building wherein the subject will be taught. The structure is to be 20x30 feet, and one story high.

DEVOTE 4 DAYS TO CENTENNIAL Program Sets Aside June 7 ' for City’s Anniversary. Monday, June 7, will he the official centennial day of the general cetebratlon to be held here next June, as it was on that date, 100 years ago, that the site for Irdlanapoils was selected.
