SOUTH SIDE NEWS Persons having items for the South Side News Column may call L. W. Pruett, Prospect 827. PLAY TEAMS AID CHILDREN. The organized play teams of the schools of the south side are proving their worth this winter. Heretofore it has been the habit of the children to hug the walls of the building and leave many “a jackknife’s rudely carved initial’' on the buildings and equipment as a reminder to the future childhood that recesses have been in vogue for many generations. But not so today. Every child must play on some team and get the benefit of the outdoor exercise. The teachers say there Is a marked improvement in the attitude of the pupils, both as to conduct in the classroom and aptitude in their studies, and attribute this change directly to the fact that they are getting much needed exercise. The teachers claim that the girls as well as tho boys must have a balanced "ration of play” along wtlh their studies and if this is not obtained on the playground under the supervision of the faculty the children will spend their energy in devising means of having it in the classroom by methods not always approved by the teachers. ' The Abraham Lincoln and the Calvin Fletcher schools have worked out a selfdisciplining system on their play grounds which makes it unnecessary to have more than two teachers on the playgrounds during recesses. The teachers act merely as arbitrators in the disputes that arise and leave the minor matters to be settled by pupils apointed for that purpose. SOCIAL AND PERSONAL. The Boy Scouts of the Edwin Raj Methodist church will give an oyster supper in the basement of the church Friday evening lor tho troop and Iheir friends. , The day of prayer for (he evangelistic services in the Methodist church was held at the Kdwin Ray church yesterday. sentenced to from one to fourteen years each in Jeffersonville in Martin county circuit court. Dovo and O’Dell were arrested in Indianapolis Jan. 5 by Detectives Winkler and Hanks after they were alleged to have robbed the clothing store of Ora C. Jackman here a week before. When they were caught the detectives say they were trying to sell three dozen silk
shirts, two dozen neckties and a number of traveling cases which they had stolen. Later the young men admitted they borrowed an automobile in Indianapolis and drove here to visit Dove's grandparents. While here they broke into the store. Because of the ages of the men the Judge dropped the burglary charge and 1 spnf""'ed them on charges of grand larceny.

COULDN’T LIFT HANDTO FACE Toledo Man Spent Hundreds in Search for Health— Tanlac Soon Overcame Troubles. “I want ray statement published in aU the papers th-t everybody may know how Tanlac has helped me and what a wonderful medicine it is,” said William H. Ferguson, a well-known electrician, living at 903 Lagrange street, Toledo, Ohio, In an Interview recently. “A month ago,” continued Mr. Ferguson, ‘it would have been Impossible for me to do the work 1 am doing today. Five years ago 1 commenced to have rheumatism In my left shoulder and arm and across my back under the shoulder blade. I kept getting worse untU I had to be carried to a hospital, where I lay helpless for three weeks. I simply could not move without help. During the past four years I have lost at least eighteen months from work on account of this rheumatism. Most of the time I could not even lay back In a barber’s chair to get shaved, and my left arm was so helpless I could not raise my hand to wash my face. Since leaving the hospital a year ago I have been able to be about part of the time, but a few weeks ago those awful pains started up in my arm and the fear of getting down helpless again almost drove me mad. At the time I got Tanlac I was also suffering from stomach trouble and had been for ten years. I distinctly remembered about a year before the rheumatism came on me of being troubled so with indigestion, spots coming before my eyes, and dizziness that 1 got alarmed. I could hardly bear to think of eating as the simplest kind of food would sour on my stomach and cause a sickening sensation and intense pains. After even a very light meal\uy heart would palpitate and act so peculiar that I was afraid I had heart trouble. “I tried all kinds of medicines, had the best treatment, and spents hundreds of dollars in my efforts to get rid of stomach trouble, to say nothing of what I have paid out since the rheumatism struck me, but never got more than a little passing relief. I could see no way out of my troubles until I read a statement for Tanlac a few ago from a man who had suffered with the same kind of troubles. The first bottle give me a good appetite and as soon as I got so I could eat and digest my food I noticed the pains In my arms and shoulders getting less. I can use my left arm and hand than in three years. The other day I tried lying back in the barber’s chair aDd was overjoyed to find that my shoulder did not pain me the least bit lam eating three good, hearty meals a day and can just feel myself getting stronger all the time. I think any one who can find relief after Buffering as I did ought to be willing, for the Bake of others, to tell what did it.” Tanlac is sold In Indianapolis by tha Hook Drug Cos. and Haag Drug Cos., under personal direction of a special Tanlac re p res entative.—Advertisement
