The paper recently established in the City of New-York to support the pretensions of Gen. Harrison to the Presidency has ceased to he published. Strong symptoms also indicate that the General himself w ill cease to be a candidate for the Presidency crelon. Jidoc Smalm, of Pent,., who was recentlv appointed by the President to supersede Steven f. Mason as Secretary and acting Governor of Michigan, declines the appointment. In consequence
mux resiaent nas appointed John S. Horner, of Virginia, to fulfil the same station.
The IP rather. It is seldom we have at this season of the year as disagreeably cold weather as has heen experienced during the past week. We have had frequent showers of rain during the fore part of the week, which were succeeded with high wind, and
3i very visible change in the atmosphere; so much bo as to produce cn Tuesday and Wednesday nights a most rugged frost. Wc have not learned that any material injury has been sustained by the crops in the low bottom lands, but ofT from the river, wc are informed, much damage has been done to the corn, buck-wheat, late vegetables, &c. Our informant thinks that scarce a bushel of sound corn will be harvested within the range of his observation. There can be but little doubt that the corn on the river hills has been much damaged by the late frost, but wc cannot believe it as bad as represented or at least don't want to we hope for the best. New Papxr. We have received the third No. of a new paper called the Indiana Aurora.' published
I C3 at Indianapolis, by Messrs. M. N. Ilenklo tc Co. the Presidency, should
i u2 Aurora, it appears, is exclusively intended to be devoted to agriculture, education, intern?.l improvements, and other subjects unconnected with party politics. We believe this is the only paper which has made its appearance in our enterprising and flourishing State that is not connected with politics, and to judge from the number which we have before us, we think it deserves great commendation. The editorial department evinces classical taste and talent, and the selections appear to he got up with judicious judgment. We wish, and believe, the Aurora will receive a liberal encouragement from the public; though we think thd proprietors slighted us by holding back their paper till it reached its third number.
Peaches have been sold in the Philadelphia market this eenson at the low price of ttcehe dollars per bushel! A moderate price indeed!

Gen. HAunisox. Gen. HarrUnn n;nn
lout his part in the farce got up by the oppo
sition to tne popular nomination of the people's
canuiaaie lor the Presidency, has authorized the Editor of the Cincinnati Whig to make the following unique announcement: "The Cincinnati Whig is authorized by Gen. Harrison to say, t.iat if it can be clearly ascertained that Mr. Webster, or any otter Whig is stronger than himself, he will not stand one moment in the way, but that he will, in such an event, cheerfully act as a Whig Elector To what are we to attribute this course of Gen. Harrison to! and what will his honest and sincere friends think, who support him for the Presidency, because they prefer him to any other candidate, and not because they wish to make him the instrument to defeat the election of Mr. Van Bu
ren! Wc have always believed Gen. II. to be a patriot and a true friend to his country; but does not this announcement show plainly that he volunteers himself as an instrument, as a mere pliant tool, to elevate the man who would have P-luripd
, . . i in disgracing him and his country at the very time and the only time he ever distinguished himself! He is perfectly indifferent, any thing to elect a whig; it makes no difference whether he be a tariff man, or a nullifier a bank man or an anti-bank man an internal or an anti-internal improvement man. Gen. Harrison, according to this announce
ment, will give his support to Daniel Webster for
"it be ascertained that ho
is the strongest whiff candidate," the man who, when Gen. Harrison and his brave soldiers were suffeiing the greatest vicissitudes and privations was zealousy opposing and voting in the House of Representatives against affording him supplies to enable him to prosecute a resistance to an invading foe; and who, as the leader of the peace party, done every thing he could to promote the success of the enemy by his endeavors to embarrass the government. He will support the man who is a strict disciple of Hartford Convcntio n federalism, a supporter and devoted friend of the Bank of the United States, and an advocate of a high and oppressive tariff. Again, if Daniel Webster should not be the strong-eat whig candidate, and is abandoned by the whigs, Gen. Harrison will cheerfully act as a whig elector, and give his support to Judge White, whose leading principles are as different from those of Mr.
Webster as the north pole is from the equator, and
