say to the Editor that he is greatly mistaken, (and u-Hfully .so, too, no doubt.) The water for the last eighteen months has not been so as to require ferrying in any direction, from or to this place, except by the way of the rivers. So much for this moon-shine imagination.

The County Seat. The Commissioners for relocating the seat of justice of this county, met, pursuant to adjournment, at Wilmington, on Mouday last. (The whole, five, in attendance.) As all, except one, had on a prevrous occasion travelled over the county and vie wed the different points, all they deemed necessary at this time, was to say where it should be located. They accordingly took up their quarters in the enemy's camp, (Wilmington) and after several fruitless attempts, succeeded in coming to a decision, by a majority of one. Wilmington, as a matter of course, was the place agreed upon as the future seat of justice of the county. The decision is not as surprising to us, (knowing the means and exertions which have been

made to bring about this result, and that one or more of these honorable men, as we are credibly informed, had a strong predilection for Wilmington as the seat of justice, 'lefore he ever had the pleasure of seeing it,) as that three men in the State, of common sense, could be found, w ho would even think, much less in justice decide, that Wilmington has advantages over Aurora, Manchester or this, place for the seat of justice of the county. The thing is preposterous and, we think, every unbiased individual will unite with us in opinion, when we say that a more unsatisfactory, unwise, injudicious and irrational selection could not have been made fro.n all the sites named (Moore's Hill excepted) than the one made. Of all the objections urged to this place, we pretend to say, that not one has been obviated or lessened by the change. The obejection to its present location as to ccntra'ity, has not been removed, even in a geographical sense, and in the point of population, much increased. One of the other complaints to this place, was the difficulty ia crossing the streams in times of high water, (and which, we believe, was

urged as one ol the principal reasons for removal.) 1 in

gether with other objections, w hich will be noticed at a proper time, and which, never were nor can be urged against this, nor but few other places in the county. What, then, have the people gained by this great parade about the removal of the county seat ? Why they have, at great expense, got permission to remove it to just the place they don't want it. The expense already incurred by the agitation of this question is considerable. Counting the pay to our members in the last Legislature, (for, we believe, they did but little else for this county, than secure the passage of this bill and the appointment of commissioners) and the fees, milage, &c.for two sessoins of the commissioners, we will set down, as a rough guess, at seven hundred dollars; and is now only fairly commenced. Hy the time the court house is built at Wilmington, the people of the county will have slandered eight or ten thousand dollars, for the privilege of losing ten times that amount in the same way. This we predict from the fact, that if the courthouse be erected there, it will be only laying the first stone of its foundation at some other point; and thus hi continually oa the move adding cost upon cost, until the 'people are made to groan under the burden of their taxes, created by the strife for the court house alone. It is to be regretted, that, if the seat of justice must be removed, a

in putting over the head and the other over the foot of the bird, and thus made him a prisoner. A largo fox-trap weighing nearly six pounds, was attached to one of his legs, which apparently had been so for some time, and probably was brought from some distant part of the country. This eaolo,
