Saturday ITIorningr, Jot. 1. - Oir'The Editors of the Cincinnati Republican and Western Hemisphere, who recently copied from this paper, an advertisement, signed "Walter Armstrong," will please discontinue it, as the propertyis disposed of. We are informed-' by the recorder, Capt. Porter, that he intends to resign his office as recorder of this ccurty, in a few days. The vacancy of course will be filled by a new election, which will, undoubtedly, be ordered as soon as the Governor is apprised of the resignation.
The River, No material change has taken place in the stage of the river since our last publication. The fore part of the week it was on the fall, and continued to decrees until about the middle, when it commenced rising, and has risen slcwly ever since. It is still, however, far from being in a condition to permit boats to ascend and descend with speed and safety.
Deer Hunt. Several of our citizens, accompanied by a few of the "hunters of Kentucky," with hearts elate in anticipation of a pleasant and successful enterprise, left this place on last Wednesday morning, to encamp in the wilds of some of the Adjoining counties, for the purpose of supplyingthemelves, their neighbors, and possibly the lower country market with a stock of venison hams. Judging, however, from their numbers and experience in this laborious, but pleasant amusement, we do not apprehend that they will entirely exterminate the harmless little deer from our forests.
The Cincinnati papers announce the name of J. Washington JIason, Esq. as a candidate to fill the vacancy occasioned by Mr. Lytle resigning his seat in Congress. The friends of Mr. Lytle appear disposed to let Mr. Mason take the track alone, that he may have an opportunity of trying his bottom. We guess he would come out ahead.
The editor of the Vincenncs Sun, says that the stockholders of the Branch Bank in that place, have already paid in nearly all the money required on the first installment of their stock, and there is nothing now to prevent them from commencing active operations. As much doubt existed at the time of subscribing for the stock of this Branch, whether or not tho money would be paid, in when demanded, this news must be truly gratifying to all who feel friendly to the institution. We believe no difficulty of the kind exists here, nor do we hear of an)r embarrassments of this nature in any other part of the State where Branches are located. It should be borne in mind by those interested, that the first installment on their stock is required to be paid by the 10th instant, under penalty of a forfeiture.
that Mr. Plummer at all times denied being pledged, and that, all his neighbors would say, bat the word false, and begging the people not to believe the Rising Sun Times, he did not recollect, and would not be positive as to any words; and funher said that he would go that day to the editors in Lawrenceburgh, and have the matter explained; and this was all said in friendship, and I thought to the honor of Mr. Tibbets. NATHAN LYNN. Manchester, September 17, 1834. P. S. The Editors of the Pvising Sun Times, will please publish the above.
THE ELECTIONS. Ohio. We have not yet received the official returns for governor in this State, but enough, however, is known to justify the belief that Lucas is reelected byjiearly 4000 majority. The votes of only
live counties are wanting to make the returns complete, and it is believed that these will not materially change the result. Lucas's majority, so fur as heard, is over 3,700. . The returns for members of congress are complete, which give the opposition one majority 9 anti-Bank and 10 Bank. The opposition have also a mejority on joint ballot in the legislature. The parties in the senate are equal 18 and 18 but in the house they have a majority of 12. Pennsylvania. By the last mail we were furnished with" a complete list of the members elected to the next congress from this State, which will be found in another column. From this it appears that the opposition have met with a grievous defeat in the land of true republican principles. The administration party have returned 17 members t6 congress, and the opposition 11 making a net gain of six anti-Bank members which will make a difference of twelve on the count in the next congress. This is pretty well for one state. We also learn that a large majority of the members of the legislature arc friendly to the administration, which will "insure the election of an anti-Bank senator to congress. ' . . Acta Jersey. It will suffice to say of this State, that we have elected the vchole delegation to congress a majority of the legislature and in fine, the Whigs have been almost knocked into an nonentity by the sterling republican Blues of the "Jarfceys." We will be able to say more on this subject next week. Georgia. So far as our information extends as to the result of the late election in Georgia, the Union party and anti-Bankites appear to carry the day. In Connecticut we are beaten in members of congress, and most likely in the legislature. In noticing these favorable changes, it is not our intention to exult at the ill-success of our worthy opponents, but merely to give the facts as they are without comment. This is "glory" enough for us.

He says: "The Hero will be gratified to hear of a convoy of specie having arrived at Vera Cruz from Mexico, with near three millions of dollars. The Mary Frances, arrived at New Orleans, brings about $70,000, tho brig Baron, expected daily in New York, has upwards of $200,000 on board; and the packet ship Congress was to sail on the ISth September, and no doubt will bring as much as both these vessels; which will be about half a million at once. Pcnsyhania Election. We find, by the Globe of the 23d, that the Congressional returns for tho "key stone" State are complete. They areas follows.
Jackson.
Sutherland, Ash Anthony, Miller, Buchanan, Klingcnsmitkf Beaumont, Laportc, Henderson, Harrison, Galbraith, Muhlenberg,
Anti-Jaclcson.
Harper. Ingcrsoll, Dalington, Potts, Heister. Morris, McKcnnan, Denny, Clark, Chambers, Banks 11.
The following prescription for the cure of Jacksonism is from the N. Y. Enquirer of a late date. Wc go in for it no mistake. The fruits arrising from such an arrangement, could not but be, in the
process of time, productive of much good to the 1
party, and we earnestly hope that Col. Webb, the projector, may lose no time in carrying his scheme into complete and active operation. It's the only remedy. It would cause the shifting, at least, if cot the turning of many a coat: Whig Ladies of Baltimore. The Baltimore Chronicle says that the ladies of one of the wards of that city are preparing a standard for the Whig ycung men of the ward, to be used on the day of election. God bless their beautiful faces, delicate hands and patriotic hearts, says the editor. We wish they all had votes, and that the Jackson men were compelled to carry the ballot boxes around to them we guess that Jacksonism would soon be extineuisbed. No doubt of it.
Wagoner,
Iiublcy, Logan , Fry, Mann.1 Those in Italics are new members. In the present Congress they stand Jackson 11, Anti-Jackson 17. Western Hemisphere.

Manchester, Oct. 2Sth, 1S31. To the Editors of the Palladium : Sirs: On seeing a Communication in your last paper signed by Abner Tibbets, of Manchester, dated Oct. 15th, 1834; we were much surprised to see a plump denial by him (Tibbets,) of the facts set forth by Henry Hopkins, John B. Clark, and
Jesse Pardun, copied in your paper, from the "Rising Sun Times." Wc were at the meeting allu- . ded to by Messrs. Hopkins, Clark, and Pardun, and have also seen the statements signed by those gentlemen, in the two papers mentioned, and it is justly due them to state, that the statements set
forth by the three above named, are strictly true, a3 relates to what transpired at that meeting. HENRY S. HEUSTIS, AM MI WILSON, MORRIS SHORT. I hereby certify, that I was present with Mr. Plummer and Col. Abner Tibbets on Tuesday last, and heard Mr. Tibbets say, if ho had understood the object Mr. Armstrong had in view, namely, to contradict Mr. Plummer in his communication to the Rising bun Times, he would not have given . any certificate to him, for he never intended to confine himself to particular words, but to the fact
Mr. Richard Shaw. A singular instance ofnro-
tracted abstemiousness has lately occurred in the
township of Clarke, which however strange may be
reneu upon as a tact. Mr. Richard Shaw a son ot the late Gen. Shaw under an unfortunate aberration of intellect refused to take any sustenance whatever under an impression that he could "live by faith;" for thirty-five days successively he has sat down to the table but refused to take the smallest article of food from the apprehension of his doing himself a personal injury, persons have regularly attended him night and day;, but to every solicitation to take food he has pertinaciously adhered to this purpose. A day or two since he stated that he had
seen two serpents pass by him, by whose temptation he had been induced to break through his plan of perpetual abstinence. Medical attendance has been regular, end it is their opinion that it is the longest instance of abstinence (where death has not supervened) on record. Colovrg Reformer.

The London Times thus speaks of the policy of
the rrrsident, in regard to the reform of the currency of this country: "The accounts from New York fully bear out the anticipation of the groat demand for gold which is likely to follow the chango in the relative value of the gold and silver coinage of the Union. It is
plain that General Jackson's Government is achieving and with a rapid progress, too, one of the greatest reforms in the currency ever attempted by any country. It is admitted that a supply of specie and bullion has been already obtained from Europe of 20,000,000 dollars, or 4,000,000 sterling in value, and that a further very considerable supply will be wanted, and will be obtained.
