REVOLUTIONARY CLAIMS.
AN ACT for the relief of certain surviving officers aod soldiers of tbe army of tbe Revolution. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress ussembled, That each of the surviving officers of tile arm) of the Revolution, in the Continental Line, who was entitled to half pay by the Resolve of October tweiily-tirst, seenteen hundred and eigntv, be aumqriz?.d to receive, out of an money in the 1 reasury, not otherwise appropriate ., the amount of his full pay in said line, according to his rank in the line, to begin with the third day of March, one thousand eight hundred and twenty-ix, and to continue during hi3 natural liie: Provided, That, under this act, no officer shall be entitled to receive a larger fcuin than the full pay of a captain in s.ud hue. Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, Tnat whenever .my of s id officers has leceived money of the United States, as a petitioner, since the third day o; Much, one thousand eight hundred and twenty -hx, aforesaid, the sum so received shall be deducted from, what said officer would otherwise be entitled, to under tiie first section of this act; a..d every pension lo which taid officer is now entitled shall cease-after the passage ol tins act. Sec. 3. And be it further enacted, That every surviving iion-commiffMoned officer musician, or private, in said aimy, who enlisted therein tor and duiing the war, and continued in its eei vice until its termination, and thereby became entitled to receive a lewar.d of eighty dollars, under a resolve ot Congres.-, p; ssed May fifteenth, seventeen hundred and seventy-eight, shall be entitled-to receive Iiis full monthly pay in said sef wc , out of any money in the treasury not other wise appropriated ; to begin on the third day of March, one thousand eight hundred and twenty six, ai.d to continue during his natural tile: Provided, That no non-commissioned cUuer, musaian or private in said army, who is now on the pension list of the United Slates, shall be entitled to the benefits ot this act. Slc. 4. And be it further enacted. That the pay allowed by this act snail, under the direction of the Secretary of the Treasury, he paid to the efficer or tidier entitled thereto, or lo their authorized attorney, 'at such places and days as said Secretary may direct; ad that no foreign officer shall be entitled lo said pay nor shall aiiyofiice'r or soldier receive the same, until he furnish to said Secretary satisfactory evidence that he is entitled to the same, iu conformity to the provisions of this act; and the pay allowed by this act shall not, iu a. y way, be transferable or liable lo attachmmr, lew or so 'z ire, by any leg .l process whatever,but shall enure wholly to the personal benefit of the officer or soldier entitled to the same, by this act. Sec. 5. And be it farther enacted, That so much ol said pay a? Hfemd by the provisions of this act, betore the third day of March, eigh een hundred and twenty-eight, shall oe p:;d to the officers, and soldiers entitled to the same,, as son as may be, in the manner and u:.der the provisions before mentioned ; at d the pay which shall accrue after said day , shall be paid semi-annually, in like mauner, and under the same provisions. Each Officer will also transmit his commis siorjf if in existence and attainable, and each non-commissioned Officer, Musician, and Private, his discbarge; which documents, after beinz registered, will be returned. one thousand eiht hundred and twenty j eight, there shall be levied, collected, and paid, on the importation of the aru t ies hereinafter mentioned, the following duties, in lieu of those now imposed by law : lint. On wool unmanufactured, four cents per pound; and, also, in addition thereto, forty per cent, ad valorem, until tht thirtieth day of June, .one thousand eight hundred aod twentyuine; from which time co additional ad valo rem duty of five pff cent, shall be imposed annually, until the whole of said ad valorem And all wool imported on tbe skin, shall be estimated as to weight and ralue, end shall pay the same rate of duty as other imported wool. Second. On manufactures of wool, or of which wool shall be a component part (ecept carpetings, blankets, worsted 5ufigoods, bom bazines, hosier, mits glows, caps, and bmd ings,) tbe actual value of which, at the place whence imposed, shall not exceed fifty cents the square yard, shall be deemed to have cost fifty cents the squire yard, and be charged thereon with a duty of forty per centum ad valorem, until the thirtieth day of June, eighteen hundred and twenty nine, and from that lime a duty of forty five per centum ad valorem. Sec ," 4. And be it further enacted That from and after the thirtieth day of June, ne thousand eight hundred and twentyeight, no draw back of duty shall be allowed on the exportation of any spirit, distilled in the United States, from molas?es; no draw back shall be allowed on any quantity of sail-duck, lets than fifty boiit, t sported in one ship or vessel, at my one time. Sec. 5. And be it further enacted, Thats from and alter the thirtieth day of June, one thousand eight hundred and twentyright, there shall be levied, collected, and paid in lieu of the duties now imposed by law, on window glass, of the izes above ten inches by fifteen inches, live dollars for one hundred square feet: Provided, That all window glass imported in plates or sheets, uncut, shall be chargahle with the same rate of duty On vials and bottles, not exceeding the capacity of six ounces each, one dollar and seventy-five cents per groce. Sue. 6. And be it further etweted, Th'ut, from and after the thirtieth day of June, ".p.e thousand eight hundred and twentyeight, there shall be levied collected and paid, in lieu of the duties now imposed by law, on all imported rooffing slates, not exceeding twelve inches iu length, by six inches in width, four dollars per (on; on all such slates exceeding twelve land not exceeding fourteen inches in length;.' live dollars per ton; on all slates exceeding fourteen not exceeding six teen inches iu length, six dollars per ton; on all slates exceeding sixteen inches, and ofjtwenty inches in length, eight dollars per ton; on slates exceeding twenty inches and not exceeding twenty four inches in length, nine dollars per ton; and on all slates exceeding twenty-four inches in lenght,ten dollars per ton. And that in lieu of the present duties, theie be levied, collected, and paid, a duty of thirty -three and a third per centum, ad valorem, on all important cipheiing slates, Slc. 7. Andbzit further enacted, That all cotton cloths whatsoever, or cloths of which cotton shall be a component material, excepting nankeens, imported direct from China, th : original cost cf which, at the place whence imported, with the addition of twenty per cent, if imported from the Cape of Good Hope, or from any place beyond it, and of ten ty accordingly Sec. 3.
