TO THE EDITORS. Messrs. Gregg & Culley Passing thro' one of the interior counties in your state, the following letter was put into my hands at one of the Inns on the road. To make room for Mr. Marklej's address "to the public," and some other articles of a political oatuse, a number of items of news for-
eign ana domestic bas oeen crowat-n out
among the Uttertbe confession of H.ll, the Mur-,jumpen 0fpiHPf azj warz that faithirnur
derer of Morgan, which we promised in our rj0wn uv owr ioks woud goe intu hir a last. The foreign news of the daj is of little, jplesurin fur funn, az tha ust too du in
importance to the American reader, and its place most generally can be more profitably occupied by that of domestic manufacture, tho' it should be politics. Now and then we hare a little from the Greeks, but it is as exaggerated and uncertain in most instances, as a combination of circumstances can make it. Late accounts state that the Porte bad rejected in the strongest terms all interferences of the Allied Powers for the pacification of the affairs of Greece, and that the ambassadors of the Allies had applied for passports to loave the Turkish Capitol. The annual elections in New York commenced on Monday the 5th inst. and ended on Wednesday following. In the city of Nsw York the election of members to the Legislature was very warmly contested on the presidential question. The entire Jackson ticket is stated to have succeeded. The New York Enquirer says that upward of 29,000 votes were polled in the city. Wm have no accounts from ny other part of the state.
The Geneva. N. Y. Gazette says "the body found at Oak Orchard creek which resembled William Morgan so exactly as to produce the
fullest convictioo that it could be none other
but his, turn out to be that of Timothy Mon-ro--w:ts Bgtun disinterred, on Monday, and we
understand utter a thorough investigation it
was jriven up to his friends tor be taken to Ca nada"
The season fur making contracts for the transportation of the Mail on a part of the vast line of the United States' Koads is over, and the competitors are dispersed to tbeir respective homes. The Office Department have bad an arduous time of it, but, with very few excep tions, we believe, the parties are satisfied with the decision between them which have been made by the Postmaster General. Some changes have effected in the mode and time of carrying the Mail, still addu.g to the present fscilties of the Post Office Establish
ment. For instance, the mail, after the firt of
January next, will be conveyed from Wash ington and Baltimore to Cincinnati, in Ohio, in SIX HAYS, in stages seven trips weekly. It is now conveyed but six trips weekly, and require seven and a half days. To LmiisviDe. from the above places, the mail sug, after tnuary, will run daily, taking eight days; the time now required being ten days. Fr.im Lonisvillo to Nashville, a mail stage will run .x mpa weekly, 0' hH the important mail routes, there bas bct-M fni increase of expedition provided for, is w-'K is 'addittooil accommodation on many of tr- f-r;), by an increase of tho number of weekly trps. A male sfae will run weekly from Lexington. Kf . by tttrhoursvillo through Tennessee, and part of North Carolina sots connect with line of nn'l et.ige which run from Columbia, South Carolina. These are a few of the improvements. Nat. Intel.

From a detailed statement in the Nashville

Tennessee consists of 61 members. 20 Senators, nd 41 Representatives. Ofvhomwiere

The only supposition that can be formed, in palliating Ellting's conduct, is, that ha is not in Lis right mind; of this, however, there is no testimony, and the almost invitable conclusion is, that for the purpose of accomplishing some emitter design, he has practised a flagrant imposition opott the public, and committed an outrage upon law and propriety which ought sot to pats unpunished.
