trie JNavy, accompanying the Mes.-age of the Fre-ident, it appears that the whole naval force, authorised by law consists of 18 ships of the line, exclusive of two on Lake Ontario. 17 frigates of the first class. 3 frigates of the second class. 1 G sloops of war. 4 schooners of 12 guns, and 6 other vessels. The whole of these, with the exception of 3 of the frigates, could be prepared for active service, at sea, in a few months, should the situation and the interests of the nation demand their employment;
