For instance, the petitions of various individuals, praying to be divorced from un faithful helpmates, or disorderly husbands. Such cases as these, it is our opinion, should be settled in the county where they arise, and not bro't before the Legislature, where the matter of difference can bardl) be expected to be fully investigated. There is a number of similar ca-s which might be adduced, in which legislative interference is altogether unnecessary, if not attended with evil consequences. Dreadful Fire, The fine new Paper Mill of Mr. Graham, was this morning! burnt down. Luckily, the day was calm, and there beii g no adjoining buildings, the destructive agent was confined to the Mill. The accident occurred from an attempt made by Mr. Graham himself, to thaw a cistern, by burning a quantity of shavins in it, on the ice. The bl;izj and flame produced was unex

rials in the vicinity, and in a few minutes the whole establishment was in flames. It burnt down in less than an hour. The Mill was just finished, and would have gone into operation in two or three da a quantity of stock was consumed.
