X Indiana Legislature. The Legislature of this state will convene at Indianapolis the 1st. Monday in December next. It
will be recollected that Mr. Noble's term.
as United States' Senator, expires this session of Congress, and that it will be
the duty of the Legislature to elect a Sen ator to fill that vacancy. This will pro
bably be one of the most important acts of the present session, or at least one which will excite as much interest, at
and previous to the time it takes place. Three candidates are understood to be offered: James Noble, the present incumbent, Jonathan Jennings and Isaac Blackford; all men of standing and well known as public characters throughout the state.
General H'irrison. A public dinner was given to General Harrison, by the citizens of Vincennes on the 27th ull, at wnjcli the Hon. Isaac Ijiackford Presided, assisted by Judge Ruble as Vice IVi-ident. Among the guests were the
llfi i. Jonathan Jennings. A number of
toai were drank, in which Messrs. Harrison and Jennings were flatteringly noticed, and to which they in return made very appropriate replies.

Treaty with the Indians in this state will be to act on which will occupy the attention of that body some length of time perhaps.'Mt is apprehended that some objection will be m.ide to a provision in.
serted in it, (which may seen in to-day's paper,) for the benefit of this state: allowing Indiana a strip efland for a road, extending frrim Lake Michigan via Indianapolis to some point on the Ohio river, together with a section of land to each mile of said road. This is no more than in justice should be confirmed to the state, by the U. States, to aid in the contemplated improvement. Such a road
would facilitate emigration to the state,
by the way of the lakes, and enhance the
price of Public Lands contiguous, in a ratio equal to the amount of land thus relinquished for state purposes. But will the Senate allow it, conceiving, as some of the members may, it an undue favor and partiality for the WEST. It will behoove the staters representatives to be o the alert, when this question is agitated. .X Would it be right to tell tiie stoy? thaCs the question. Right or wrong we must tell it: Some time in the year 1825 we received a very polite note fromashncw-
