in favour of that pproDrhtion. Brnokville, August ISth. 1826. Yours kc. John Test. In answer to the inquiries of Mr. Test, In the above, we would inform him, that he can find, we think', in Niles Register for February or March, the proceedings of the Senate in the case of Mrs. Denny (One of our neighbours having borrowed the fil of the Register, and forgot to return it, prevents us from pointing to the particular page.) We ca'inot, however, see why fhe judge should make inquiry of us, concerning this matter, as Mr. Noble resides in his town, who wonM no doubt give him the desired information; neither can we discover the particular hearing of Mr. Noble's vote on that question, in relation to Mr. Test. To the other inquiry, where we found the extract from Mr. Randolph's speech, on the hill making appropriations for furnishing the President's house, &c.
we answer, it was taken from one of our
exchange papers, and inserted in ours without remark, further than to show that it was a speech by Randolph. We never found nor hunted for Mr. Test's vote on that bill, previous to the election ; and had he not agitated it at this time, the patrons of the Indiana Palladium would never have known, from us, that Mr. Test voted for the bill appropriating 25,000 for furnishing the palace of the President, &c. We do not pretend to draw a distinction, or weigh the quantum of misconduct, if any, in the case of the widow Denny; but feel free to say, if the vote in that case was a bad one, in the case of the appropriation bill it was a great deal worse. . If, in withholding this information from the public, till this time, we hav" erred, it was th.ough a disposition to act impartially, and to prevent, if possible, the charge of partiality in our oilicial
duty. In this last attempt we have perhaps, failed. In conclusion, we can assure Mr. Test, that we never published

missioners, after viewing the ground on
both sides of the Allegheny river as high up a Freeport, on Wednesday last confirmed the previous location of the Canal above Pine Creek, which our readers
will remember was on the western side of
the river but from Pine Creek to this city they have chosen the eastern side, in accordance with the wishes of our citizens expressed in their late town meeting. The Canal, we understand will be bro't down on such a level as will permit it to be taken to any point on either the Allegheny or Monongahela rivers. Twoaqueducts will of course, be required on this route one above the mouth of the Kishkiminetas, and the other at the 1 mouth of Pine Creek, six mile above this city. The line from the United States Arsenal to this city, for which proposals were received, being on a lower level than is now decided upon, it became necessary that new proposals should be obtained, for which ten days notice must he given. Contracts for the excavation of the Canal above the mouth of Pine Creek have been entered into, and next week, we learn from sume of the contractors, the work will be commenced, and before winter, it is expected, some of the sections will be completed. On Thursday morning last the Com
missioners left this city lor Meadville, toi
