Central Indiana home sales up in August The number of residential housing units sold during August and total home sales years- to-date are up in Central Ind., according to statistics released by the Metropolitan Indianapolis Board of Realtors (MIBOR). This August home sales were up 3 percent from 2004 and about 4 percent from 2003. The number of new listings added to the market in August is also up from 2004 by nearly 9 percent. The average sale price of homes in Central Indiana rose 6.2 percent from August 2004, reaching $164,816.

The Board of Directors of the YMCA of Greater Indianapolis has accepted the recommendation of a special search committee to name Eric J. Ellsworth the new president and CEO of the YMCA of Greater Indianapolis. He will begin his new duties Nov. 14. Ellsworth comes to Indianapolis from the YMCA of Greater Charlotte, N.C., where he has served since 1994 - most recently as executive vice president and chief operating officer. He succeeds Norris D. Lineweaver, who will leave Indianapolis in midOctober after 11 years to become director general of the Jerusalem International YMCA in Israel. “Mr. Ellsworth will bring the kind of experience, management expertise, and creative thinking that will continue and expand our reputation as one ofthe most successful and innovative Ys in the nation,” said board chair Mary Moses Cochran. “The opportunities and challenges that the YMCA of Greater Indianapolis presents in the coming years are an excellent fit with the skills and expertise that he will bring to our association.” Prior to his work in Charlotte, Ellsworth, anative Hoosier, was the CEO of the YMCA of Southwestern Indiana, serving a fivecounty area out of Evansville from 1989 to 1994.
