this during very difficult times in Indiana and around the country. We are the only state to make these kinds of decisions - to go on offense instead of cutting back in those areas. We decided our future was in making investments as opposed to reversing course, and we are seeing the results in our job growth numbers.” According to the latest figures, Indiana is leading the Midwest in job creation and outperforming the country. The latest U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics report for Indiana shows that 6,700 jobs were created in March - the largest monthly increase since 2000. This marks the third consecutive month that Indiana has seen an increase in job growth numbers over the same month last year. According to the governor’s office: • Over the last two years, Indiana is leading the Midwest in job growth and outperforming the country. • In 2002, Indiana created
17,600jobs, while the country lost 300,000jobs. That ranked Indiana 5th in the natio" then, and first in the Midwest. • In 2003, Indiana created 7,200jobs, while the countiy created only4,000jobs. That ranked the state 16th in the nation, and third in the Midwest. • Over the last two years - from March 2002 to March 2004 - Indiana has created 21,500 jobs, while the rest of the country has lost 300,000 jobs. That ranks us 9th in the nation,' and first in the Midwest. Some areas are still struggling to beat back the effects of the national recession, but Gov. Keman says he is working hard to turn things around for every community. And signs are showing that Indiana is turning the corner. His office said for all the folks coming around telling you that Indiana is “last in this” and “worst in that,” tell them that “facts are friendly!” and Indiana is making its comeback.

Free 911 cell phones Dialing 911 to summon help can mean the difference between life and death. The disabled Hoosier who drives off the road, the elderly person who becomes lost and confused or the domestic violence victim trapped and threatened-all need immediate access to communication. Often that’s access they can’t afford. But Central Indiana citizens, who normally can not purchase a cell phone,, can now have emergency assistance at their fingertips with a portable phone programmed to dial 911. The phones are made available through a new program representing a partnership between "Free911CellPhones.com" and the Indiana State Medical Association, which is comprised of 8,000 of the state's doctors. For more information about this program contact Adele Lash at (317) 261-2060 or at (800) 257-4762.
