Queen I^itifah will be cabby in new film Grammy Award winning rap mama Queen Latifah is in LA filming a role as a cab driver opposite “Saturday Night Live’s” Jimmv Fallon in the film remake of “Taxi.” In addition to that lowdown, Latifah has seven films slated to hit theaters within the next year. They are: “Scary Movie 3,” “Barbershop 2,” the previously mentioned “Taxi,” “Beauty Parlor (Shop),” “Bad Girls” with Jada Pinkett Smith, “My Wife Is a Gangsta,” and “Cookout,” a film the star is producing. Recently Latifah shared some of the details of her forthcoming rap album with New York’s Daily News. One of the more touching songs is “The World,” which is semi-autobiographical. “The first verse is autobiographical, talking about how 1 was molested as a child. I didn’t know’ how to tell my parents and it really messed with me emotionally and in terms of my ideas of sexuality,’’said Latifah. “I had parents who explained these things to me, but it happens to

you at 5 years old, you can’t seem to get it out of your mouth, like. Hey, this guy did this to me.’You know?” Snoop Dogg to create titled cut for video game Snoop Dogg is hot on the money trail once again. He was chosen to compose the main song for the Playstation 2 game “True Crime: The Streets of LA” and he selected a Marvin Gave song to sample from: "Dance With Me.” The soundtrack for the game will feature new music from West Side Connection (featuring Ice Cube), Jayo Felony, Warren G., and Bizzy Bone. N.E.R.D. will also be heard in the game providing a backdrop to the game’s car chases, shootouts, on-foot pursuits and hand-to-hand combat. The game will debut for Playstation on Nov. 4. Jay-Z prepares for final LP Jay-Z’s final hurrah, his disc “The Black Album,” will go against the grain in that it will hit the streets on a Friday. Traditionally, albums are released on Tuesdays, but the Jigga figures he’ll go out on a different note. “The Black Album” will be in stores on Nov. 28. “We wanted to try something different,” says DefJam/Def Soul president Kevin Liles. “Everything (related to the project) is Black, so w’e figured, ‘Why don’t we put it out on Black Friday?’ It’s one of the biggest selling days of the year, and it’s the day after Thanksgiving. So it's Jay’s way of saying ‘thank you’ to fans for them giving him so much,” Billboard reports. A Friday release isn’t the only thing the rapper has in store for fans. The disc will also feature tie-ins with an all-Black version of Jay-Z’s S. Carter sneakers by Reebok, the release of his autobiography The Black Book, and his tour, which kicks off Nov. 25 at Madison Square Garden in New York. So far, surprisingly, the disc itself has been kept under wraps. The rapper initially mentioned

that the album would feature a plethora of producers, but who those producers are is still hushhush. Hip-hop nicks the charts OutKast and Ludaeris have taken control of the Billboard. According to Nielsen SoundScan, Ludaeris edged out the top spot on the U.S. pop charts and a new collection of Elvis Presley classics landed at No. 3. behind OutKast. Elvis' set, now inappropriately titled “Elvis 2nd to None,” sold 181,000 copies its first week to enter the Billboard Top 200 in third place. Presley’s latest sales figures are down in comparison to the debut of “Elvis 30 #1 Hits,” which posted first-week U.S. sales of500,000 copies last year. It also shot to the top of the charts in more than two dozen countries. Ludaeris hit acareer-high with his third album “Chieken-N-Beer,” which sold 430,000 copies during the week ending Oct. 12. OutKast, whose double-CD set, “Speakerboxxx/The Love Below,” sold 187,000 copies in its third week of release, slipped a notch to No. 2. The sales tally for the duo Antwan “Big Boi” Patton and Andrew “3000” Benjamin now climbs to 933,000 copies. Prince trades sexy moves for Jehovah Witness stroll Couldyou imagine Prince tapping on your door, Bible in hand, with Larry Graham in tote asking if he can come in and share some Scripture? Sounds like a bad dream after a late night ofTaco Bell, but that’s the latest on the eccentric entertainer according to UK Web site PeopleNews.com. Prince has joined Jehovah’s Witness and is spreading the good news everywhere he can. He was last seen in Eden Prairie, Minneapolis, on the doorstep of one, identified only as Rochelle. Central Station, but better known for his solo debut "One in a Million You.’’ But, soon after they were invited in, they were asked to leave. She said, "I told him, ‘You know what? You've walked into a Jewish household, and this is not something I’m interested in. ” Their attempt to spread tinword was further ruined by the Minnesota Vikings game that was airing on TV at the time of their visit. ‘All of Us’ can celebrate with Kve The first lady of the Rough Ryder crew is not only one of the hottest female rappers in hiphop, but now she's adding a successful acting career to her attributes. UPN has decided to order a full season of " Eve” as well as "All of Us.” “Eve," starring you-know-who, has increased its audience w ith every passing week improving by 10 percent in total viewers since its premiere on Sept. 15. The show is most popular among adults 18-34, which boosts its audience by 17 percent in that demographic. “All of Us,” executive produced by Will and Jada Pinkett Smith, is seeing even more success. It has become the networks most watched show, attracting4.5 million viewers per episode. The popular audience for the Tuesday night hit is among viewers 12-34, picking up a solid 2.3 rating. “All Of Us” has surpassed ratings for “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” in the same slot last season. “By picking up these two new shows for a full season, UPN's streak of developing and launching new comedy hits continues,” says UPN Entertainment President Dawn Ostroff. “ ‘Eve’ has fit seamlessly into our successful Monday night block and has seen growth since its premiere, and we’re incredibly excited to enter the new season and be able to launch a new night on Tuesday with ‘All of Us,’ UPN’s most watched show this year."

Showtime to air movie on Jayson Blair saga

NEW YORK (AP) - Showtime has given a movie producer the go-ahead to make a “dark comedy " about the Jayson Blair scandal at The New York Times. The movie, tentatively titled “The Jayson Blair Project,” is expected to he shown on the pay cable outlet next year or early 2005. Blair resigned as a reporter on May 1 after filing some three dozen phony or plagiarized stories. The scandal eventually led to the resignation of the paper’s top editor, Howell Raines. “Although (Blair) is a real person and there’s a tragicaspect to this, there’s something snarky and odd that is quite comic about the way he operated, ” Jon Maas, w ho’s writing the movie, said. Maas said he sees his movie as something similar to “Confessions of a Dangerous Mind,” the film based on the autobiography of game show producer Chuck Bgrris. “The Jay son Blair Project” is being based partly on articles by former Newsweek

writer Seth Mnookin, Showtime said. Maas would not say w hether anyone involved in the scandal would cooperate with him in making the film. Blair has signed to write a book about the incident, titled “Burning Down My Master’s I louse: My Life at The New York Times.” “I am not paying Jayson Blair one penny,” Maas said. ‘Tin not interested in buying the rights to his book. He will not profit financially from this film." No one has been cast in the title role. A spokeswoman for The New York Times said the newspaper had no involvement with the film and would not comment on it. Maas was the w riter-pro-ducer of an earlier Showtime film, "The Last Debate,” about the power of the media and journalistic ethics. He said he’s not concerned about taking on a journalism institution. “I don’t think the Times should look at this as an ‘attack New York Times movie,'” he said. “It’s a great newspaper."
